Building Paper?

What type of building paper should we use under cultured stone ? My plan wants Tyvek . We use two layers of 30 # felt behind brick , stone stucco . We don't do much CS here. My inspector wont think for him self, he just reads the plan word for word . I don't know if there is a code on this . The building is 44' and the stone is 4' on the bottom . Thanks in advance

Re: Building Paper?

if tar paper works for stucco, why wouldnt you think it will work for cultered stone?you are doing the same thing, just putting a different finish on the stucco.
im not tring to be a smart azz, just saying tar paper will be fine.

Re: Building Paper?

Just did a bunch of research on this, and this is what I've settled on.

Dupont Tyvek first directly on the sheething. The Dupont Tyvek brand is much better in both performance and ease of use than the other cheap woven versions.

Dupont's tech requirements say that a single layer of Tyvek outperforms two layers of building paper in both water resistance and vapor permeability. As such it can be used in a single layer under sidings like vinyl, Hardie, etc.. If used under brick, stone, stucco, etc.. they require either two layers of Tyvek or a layer of building paper over the Tyvek, unless you use the Tyvek Stucco Wrap.

Re: Building Paper?

you got'r pontiac. the only other requirement with a product like hartie, or wood siding product is that a drainaige plain must be installed over top the building wrap, being a min of 3/8" so that the air pressure behind the siding is the same as outside so that any wind driven rain that gets behind the siding can freely run down the side of the house and dry out this is the "rain screen principal"

Re: Building Paper?

WBH

The application is the same for liclk and stick stone as it is for stucco.

As it has been said in this thread it is stucco with exposed aggregate.

As for the comment about 1 layer of tyveks stucco wrap that is wrong.

Watch this and see what they do under the bottom of the window.

The mfgrs. do not even know how things need to be!

And anyone that wants to tell them I said that I would be very grateful to you.

They are IGNORANT! IMO
