Block Work Rebar Question
I am in france and have a 33 metre trench dug for a 1.2 metre high wall made from concrete block. The foundations have been poured already but one end of the trench is about an inch lower than the other end, can i add more mix on top to get level or can i just bed the blocks higher as i get to the lower end of the trench.
Also I have noticed out here in france the blocks are not solid, instead they are hollow square inside the block. I have noticed that they use rebar inserted every three meters upright and as they lay the block they break through the block and lay with the rebar running up through the middle of the block and then pour concrete into the holes the rebar runs through. The problem is the trench that has been dug has no upright rebar buried in it for the blocks, is this necessary as it is not a retaining wall or is there something I should do to reinforce the wall. Thanks for any help. Regards, Bob. |

Re: Block Work Rebar Question
Thanks for the help.
Just wondering though is the rebar necessary if it is not a retaining wall. In England we have solid blocks and if its not retaining i've not used any reinforcement, but does it make a difference if the blocks are hollow. Thanks again. |
