Block Foundation
Has anyone ever built a footer from block? We are doing a vacation home in BFE and ready mix is out of the question. The only other option would be to mix on site and thats more work than I want to do. This will have a stem wall/crawl space not piers.

Re: Block Foundation
I'm not sure how you would get the continuity needed with block. A good footing will span small soil problems but block"

Re: Block Foundation
If you can truck in block you can truck in a couple spec mix pallets and a mixer. Form accurately so you don't mix any extra than you absolutely need.

Re: Block Foundation
By BFE I mean its in a very remote location. I could get the concrete trucked in but it would well over an hour drive from the plant and the road leading to the site is not very good for large trucks. We'll probly just mix it on site. I read somewhere years ago about a way to do footers with block but can't recall all the details. The house is 1 1/2 story 1800sq ft. so its pretty small. The soil is very rocky and seems stable. There is already a 16x20 cabin on the proprty thats built on a native rock foundation dating back to around 1940. That foundation is still mostly intact after over 60 years.
