Armorall Waterproofing

has anyone has any experince with this product?i just finished the stucco job ive been on and the homeowner waterproofed most of it with thompsons.i live in a small town and the town ran out of thompsons. so he used armoral.this was on monday.today(wed)i noticed that the areas he sprayed with armorall has started to turn white.kinda milky looking.this is the homeowner from hell and i know he is going to try and lay this off on me,but i can come back with, why didnt the rest of the house turn white.they sprayed the house about 24 hours before a 2 inch rain, but most of the places that are turning didnt not get wet.
just wanting to know if anyone else has this problem
thanks
AND HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE.

It ain't your deal. Tell him to pursue it with the waterproofer.

Re: Armorall Waterproofing

Thompsons,I believe is a repellent (wax)as compared to a sealer and would still allow moisture transmission. The sealer wouldn't.It sounds like moisture under the sealer.

These deal with wood decks. There are better masonry sealers around.Six Pack should have knowledge.Around here we just paint the stucco to seal.

Re: Armorall Waterproofing

Armor all is not a sealant. It doesn't cure. It will continue to mix with water, turn milky then just wash away.

The best contractor grade masonry sealants out there are made by V-Seal.

Re: Armorall Waterproofing

another thing on the homeowner doing the sealing.
he had part of the house sealed when i got there last week,so i did see how he was sealing it.this past saturday,i was on the back porch finishing up the slate tile and he was sealing.when i took a break i went around to talk to him and seen how he was appling the sealer.
he was using a pump up weed sprayer, something i always have used.but..............it was a stream of sealer and not a mist.i mean i dont even pee that big of stream.totally soaking the stucco and stone.i told him i thought he was putting it on to heavy, but this is a man who knows it all.
there is 3470 sq ft of stucco and 750 sq ft of stone and he used over 60 gallons of sealer.

tkle,on what you said about moisture behind the sealer.everything was very dry before he applied the sealer.its been way dry in this part of oklahoma.in fact when it rained forty day and night,we got a quarter inch.

Re: Armorall Waterproofing

I thought maybe a little bit of humidity before the rain, but it sounds like it may have been too heavy a coat and is peeling off. Also many water based sealers can't be gone over twice. The second coat will end up blotchy. It doesn't adhere correctly.

Re: Armorall Waterproofing

I'm still gussing its moisture in some shape or form either from the substrate or from the interaction of the two products. Armor all can't peel, it doesn't cure. Thompson's on the other hand...........

I'm thinking maybe the non curing Armor All sprayed over the cured Thompson's turned milky, especially after the rain.

Re: Armorall Waterproofing

Thompsons is mostly parafin wax and mineral spirits. What happens to spirits in the sun? IT DRIES OUT!!! I never heard of armor all except in car care use and for that matter never liked it either.
Why not just waterproof it with Ben Moore Moorlastic or SW sherlastic? I prefer the Moorlastic and it can be applied as a highbuild and is breathable for moisture problems.
