Re: Electrical Equipment And Parts

I really need a new wire streacher. If you got one of them please PM me and we will talk. My old one was broken by a parttime helper a couple of years ago and replacement parts are no longer available. Looking for a newer version for a good price. When needed this tool is an invaluable tool asset to all electrical contractors.

Thanks for helping.

Re: Electrical Equipment And Parts

I also am in need of a wire stretcher, one that is at least capable of stretching 4/0 for mistakes made on residential service upgrades. I have one now but it is too small for all the estimating mistakes that I make.

Yea the one that was broken was rated 22 to 16 gage. The parttimer was not very experienced (as you may guess) and tried to use it on some #12 solid. Ended up breaking the one streaching pulley and bent the shaft. Hasn't worked right since. I have to be really careful now when I am estimating wire length. It causes me to find the need to over estimate and I waste more that I should.

If yours is sized for 22 to 16 gage and you have no further need since you are pulling 4/0 wire let me know. I may be interested is a purchase.

Thanks,

Les

BTW it seems that Glock40 posted another announcement of tools for sale. Hmmmmmmmm????? Hope you can sell your stuff Glock40!!

Great, let us know on the stretcher. I'm also wondering if you sell the hydro-electro fluid that is installed in industrial type circuit breakers. I've been finding these breakers leak quite often and the fluid is tough to find in my area.

Well you being a painter thanks for understanding.

As a low voltage electrician I can tell you it is very difficult. I would be so much better off if I could just get the parts. Even if I had a good set of prints I could find a machine shop to turn out what I need. The sad part is that for as long as I have had this one the manufactures name has worn off. That is why I would be willing to talk to someone who has one so we can exchange info.

I go with the thought process that a poor man can't afford cheap tools. In otherwords it would be worth the expense.

Thanks for reading and if you can help please PM me.

I was hoping that Glock40 would have something in his magic box.

Nothing in the magic box here , but I can sure understand some of the concerns you memebers have. But I dont deal in the 5 finger discount or fall of the back of the truck special. I sell legitimate items and have alot of integrity selling them to customers. Feel free to contact me for any future questions or concerns.

This is starting to look more and more like spam. Just my opinion...

I'm not sure that it's technically possible to spam the 'contractor swap' category. That said, I still don't have warm fuzzies yet.

I'm just starting to feel like he's running an eBay like store. It feels like more than just a guy looking to sell his own tools to me. Again, just my opinion...

Re: Electrical Equipment And Parts

I'd just like to know why wire stretchers are so hard to come by these days. Seems like they just don't make em anymore, I've been looking for a used one (for 4/0) for years and haven't found any for a decent price. Glock, is this something you may be able to special order?

Re: Electrical Equipment And Parts

To be fair, I do have a decent stock of new old stock replacement parts for the Model 4/0 wire stretcher. If you've ever dropped yours, you know that the base plate of prefabulated amulite is quite brittle. I have 3 spares of those. Also, (no telling anyone), I have 6 spare reciprocating dingle arms. As you know, this is a very rare part. As far as the normal wear items go, like spiral decommutators, roffit bars, and spamshafts go, I have plenty of those for any who are interested. I know that the differential gridlespring is worn on almost everyone's wire stretcher, and I don't have any of those. Some guys are reporting good service from substituting a gremlin stud and 3 Johnson & Johnson Q-Tips, but I haven't tried that myself. If you guys need any of these items, I can be talked out of them for a price.

That's great Mdshunk, I knew someone would come thru for me. And since you are only about an hour or so away it will make it easier to haggle on price. I get to Cumberland County every couple of weeks on the weekend. The next time I am up that way I will give you a call and we can meet. I would be interested in seeing all those parts you have. Something might just fit my busted unit. Again thanks. I will call you.

Re: Electrical Equipment And Parts

That's good info on the gremlin stud and differential gridle spring interchange. I'll remember that one, makes sense. So far my spamshaft has held up quite nicely on my smaller stretcher but it eats roffit bars for some reason, I dunno, maybe the dingle arm needs adjustment. I'll keep you in mind now that I know you have some spare parts.
