Topic Suggestions

We have been growing quite a bit lately and I wanted to see if we were missing any topics?

Feel free to make suggestions in this thread.

Thanks.

Re: Topic Suggestions

how about debating truss roofs vs. stick framed? or wood vs. steel? anyone? ok-just to start: i'm not crazy about trusses. steel ain't worth the trouble unless it' for a big metal building. if this is archive-type stuff for you old-timers, let's just let the new guys put in their 2 cents.

Re: Topic Suggestions

I would like to see a thread on how to rehab a house that's been under water for a couple of days. Most of my work (99.8%) was in sunny California and I have zero expierence in this area. Probabley get Tettorbuilt to start off?

Do you mean actual threads, or seperate forums? i/e drywall, painting, marketing and sales...

Actually I was talking about Forum Topics like "Marketing, etc.." NOT thread topics.

I should have been more clear.

If your interested in a thread topic.... post it

So you want me to write a manual? I'd have to do this in installments.

Re: Topic Suggestions

How about a topic for todays news and one for politics. They might help sort some of the drifting and highjacked threads.

Also, now that CTalk is growing so quickly, what about that time and topic chat we all discussed last year?

Oh yea........and one on brauds.

Bob

Re: Topic Suggestions

Maybe a forum about real estate, geared toword refurbs and flippin? Although most of any questions someone would have could be answered in the specific forums...

Road construction?

You have a pretty complete site here. I don't think you have missed anything.

Re: Topic Suggestions

I tried to do a "today's project" thing in the carpentry forum, where people could talk about their day and post pics of their work.

It didn't seem to work too well. I thought it would be cool. I guess people are just too busy for it (I found I was as well).

Thats all I got, sorry.

That was a good idea. I was looking foward to reading some of the posts. But like you got too caught up in other things to get back to it. Maybe give it a bump?

Topics:
Government Contracts (how to get work, contracts, bids, the process, etc..)
FEMA (how to get work, contracts, bids, etc..)
GC/Sub Licenses (what each states requires for any construction license)
Labor/Material Rates

Just doing some brainstorming...

Re: Topic Suggestions

Great ideas guys.

Just a quick reminder. We are looking for FORUM topics and not THREAD topics. So, this would be a topic that you would post a question under.

Sadly enough, I've been doing less and less trade work anymore. Just whatever small sidejobs I can pick up. Working in the production home setting got really old to me. 90% of the work I was doing was small sized Ogee base and casing, and most of the houses fit 1 of 5 different layouts. Cookie cutting work got extrmely old, and I grew tired of it. I'm now working at a real estate office full time and only doing some small jobs by myself. I wouldn't have enough work to contribute to that thread I started, which is a shame. I only started it because of the coffered ceiling I was working on, one of the few unique projects we got to do.

I do think it would be a cool forum, but we already have picture posts in each forum anyway.

How about an LCO sub forum inside the Landscaping Forum. The same way you have decks.

Exactly, Although alot of LCOs in my area are also Landscapers, in some parts of the country these guys want to be recognized seperately.

How about a forum for architectural design programs? I have Chief Architect and I sure others have similar programs that we can share tips on.

Wouldn't we need an architect forum first?
