Suggest new section

This may have come up before but, how about a state by state section?

I could always use good subs as alot that I have used in the past have gone out of buisness or moved or?

A new state section I think would work great for networking and regional info about trade shows and other stuff.

What do ya think?

50 subforums? That would take up a lot of space with little return IMHO. Maybe 5 or 6 regional forums would be more likely.

On the surface it sounds enticing....but many ppl here do not enter their location into the profile.
You would have no way of maintaining "credibility"....kind of the way it is now.

I think it is a GREAT idea, but it might make navigating on the site a little tough.
It also might break up the comraderie and community a bit. (Just playing the devil's advocate)

However, suppose a sort option was available on the members list that would list serious posters by state, and let them opt in or out of a state forum.

I have personally made a great connection from this site in Angus 242 who by all definitions is one of my competitors, but we both have the same honest work ethic and are exploring ways to possibly compliment each other's businesses by working together. I have already decided to use him for my next job that needs tile (which is his specialty).

I can already hear Nathan sighing about this, but the OP's idea is at worthy of some thought.

No doubt

Now if we could just get "location" to be as mandatory as "name"

Have you seen this?

I know there have been some technical problems in the past with listing your business, so I don't think everyone uses it.

I have not seen this before, thanks for pointing it out.

Maybe it would take alot of space and that might be the contributing factor.
Maybe you could have contributing members that pay a fee to support the site, (forgive me if this already exists) then that could help absorb the costs of more servers and such.

I know that people are going to continue searching for whatever they are looking for but, a state level section would be great I think. I'm a member of other forums, like many on here, that are not work related and they work great for state to state. Honestly they really don't have alot of action but, what the hell, I guess I'm just biased.

That's pretty cool - except maybe the part that it's only good in the States!!

Should be. If you're a licensed contractor, you're so far out in the open anyhow. You should have no reason not to state who you are, or at least where you're located.
