Slow Down

Site page loading is running pretty slow, even on cable modem, I know it's not my end, others sites load alot faster. Anyone else show a slow down?

I did too, but I thought it was just something with my computer.

Re: Slow Down

Not just started, it's been going on for some time now, might be the ad service you have running, DIY Chatroom loads a lot faster then here, as I watch the page load, watching the bottom bar status where it tells you reading from so and so the ad service it reads is what is taking up the time.

Re: Slow Down

Did it start Monday when we switched over to the new site or was it doing it before then?

Thanks for the feedback...

Re: Slow Down

Im running slow to. I upgraded the software on my PPC and I am using it as a modem for my laptop. All the other places I go with it seem to load really fast. Contractor Talk isn't super slow though, 5-10 seconds to load a page. Using my cell phone alone though is no good anymore.

Re: Slow Down

Well testing is revealing, firefox is slower to load CT over IE, all test were preformed after a reboot. I don't care for IE but if it will speed up loading this site then I'll use IE for here and FF for other sites. Scrolling the forums in FF is jumpy where as IE seems smoother, I know FF had just made a new release not to long ago, so maybe it's FF thats the problem. When did this really start? Before the changes were made. Maybe FF has a hard time reading from the ad producing sites. I don't really know right now.

Hmmm... that's interesting. Thank's for figuring out what was causing the problems. I'll see if I can figure it out now that I know what the cause is.

Thanks

Really? that's interesting. I have no way of checking that since I don't have it.

I'll try to see what I can find out.

Re: Slow Down

On my phone if i have it set to one colum view it wont load. But if I set it to default or desktop view its ok. Thats on a UTstarcom PPC 6700 with WM5. In defalt view it works the best, i dont have to do any vertical scrolling to read posts. Wife has a Palm Treo 700wx on WM5 and it works the same as mine.

Re: Slow Down

So it sounds like it's the columns that are screwing with it.

If its turned to one column does it not load or does it just look crazy?

Re: Slow Down

If I try loading in one colum view it starts and gets as far as showing the top of the page and then shuts the internet right down. Have to restart it again and it goes to my home page. Im just guessing but i think in one colum view the phone trys to reformat it to fit and its just to big of a page for it to do that.

Re: Slow Down

I'm working on a mobile version of the site, hopefully it will be ready soon.

As far as the site slowing down. Is it any faster now? I removed the eBay ads thinking that it may have been part of the problem.

Thanks.

Still the same with FF looking at screens it reads from googlesyndication from what I'm seeing here, this is where it's slowing FF down.

Things are moving faster, I know FF just had a update, or did you make any other changes?

I made a few changes but not sure if they are helping or not.
