Safety Forum

A forum for safety would be cool. And with a sub-topic for horror stories.

Very educational.

Re: Safety Forum

Some people get off on all this safety stuff. For me, I get just about as much of that in a day's time as I can stomach.

Re: Safety Forum

Yeah, I'm suffering from two broken ribs at the moment from climbing a scaffold with sweaty hands. I'm not sure if I violated any rules or not, but something tells me I'll dry my hands off next time.

Re: Safety Forum

Hmmm, so that would be a front page topic wouldn't it? I like to start new forums under existing forums (sub-forums) but I'm not sure how I could make that work.

Under General Discussion maybe?

No; put it under Tools. Safety equipment are tools to completing a safe and legal job.

Re: Safety Forum

Lol, I'd guess it belongs everywhere, but would vote for Business.

I've told you I work for a large commercial GC. We have a policy stricter than OSHA. We require hardhats and safety glasses all the time, no matter what you are doing. Imagine how foolish I feel inforcing this policy on carpet layers and painters!

Here's the thing. If we all took care of each other and ourselves, there would be no OSHA, insurance or lawyers. While I'm at it, I'm wishing for world peace, lol.

But let's talk reality. The risks are real, and copping an attitude doesn't help, although I sympathise. The problem I have with all of the above is that the pressures from the Feds, Insurors and lawyers creates an air of resentment which sometimes causes a kneejerk reaction to resist.

You can resist all you want, it's your business.

What I want to believe is that everyone here cares about their workers and would refuse to jeopordize their safety over money. Pressure does funny things to otherwise reasonable people.

Sheesh! My rose colored safety glasses are getting all fogged up. GTG

Re: Safety Forum

Well, your request has been granted!

http://www.contractortalk.com/f59/

I went ahead and put in on the front page. I think its an important topic and it needs to be up front. Now we need some quality posts so it doesn't look so empty.
