Rep points
Ive been on some other V-bulletin forums that had the rep point feature enabled. If somebody gave good advice or a helpful comment, members could give him or her a "positive rep point". Similarly, if someone gave bad advice or was a "troll", they would receive "negative rep". Just wondering of Contractor Talk ever had this enabled.

Similar, but what I am talking about is displayed above each poster. (above the avatar) Just a green bar, the more positive rep the more green bars. Negative rep is a beautiful shade of red lol.

No real advantage other than it was generally easy to tell who the trolls were and who was offering real advice.

I see, yes it would do that. If everyone voted honestly. May be too easy for someone to select a lower status.

If I remember right you could only give someone rep one time a day and it's not anonymous, you see who gave you + or - and why.

That seems to sort itself out
pretty quickly anyway.

I think that system would cause more problems than it's worth. Your Tahoe buddy would live to give you bad rep points for the rest of his life. It would be unfair because nobody here (with the exception of Gene and Malco) have that kind of time

LOL Yeah I guess I never thought of that, and the inevitable popularity contest that would probably result.

It's been my experience that when vBulletin's reputation system is enabled, all it mostly does is stir up strife. You can get a pretty good sense of who's who just by looking at their post count.

That is because, when we decide to actually work, we have others do it for us!!!!!!

One of the other forums I am on uses the system. I leave red reps all the time along with my name, most people will leave them without leaving their name. The green reps are for kids "great post" "you saved my day" most of us have inflated egos without other people feeding them. Come to think of it some people around here could really use some red reps to bring them down off their high horse.

<chuckling to myself> "Says the guy w/ over 8,000 posts!"
Naw, I'm with ya, shunk... Post counts let you know if the poster is "invested" in ct.
Hell, taking pot shots at trolls is easy enough right now! We go painting a red target on them and it'll take the fun out of it!

Naw, my wife does that daily if I need it or not. I've thought about beating her, but she's faster on the draw than I am. So, I've learned the phrase that pays, "Yes, Dear." 8)

We had it enabled for a while and nobody seemed to use it. So... I turned it off.
