Newbies

Would it be possible to make it that new members can not start a new thread until they have a set amount of posts? Maybe the same rule as posting pics? There are alot of one hit wonders that come on here and get everyone antsy-in-there-panstys....

I may be way off but I think its pretty annoying.

No posts or pics unless you have a white dulley with a ladder rack.

Is that not in the rules of the forum anyway? x number of post prior to starting a new thread for new members?

At the same time, we each have the right to view or not view post, new starts or replies to.
Kind of like people wanting Government to always step in, then once in we can never get them out again.
So anyway, if possible, always best to excercise our right to choose to or not to something.
I've not been here that long, but long enough that most seem to cut up, but do so with respect to all, with exception to post asking for prices, but then again the reply post seem to be more humorus than upset.
The times we are in any laughs are great and good for the soul
In every day public life we all run into people we wish we hadn't, but do, then we either make up an excuse to roll on, pretend to enjoy the conversation, or just walk away. But "we" make the choice as should be here or where ever.
As once was discussed in a post not to long ago, I believe there is an ignore feature on here.
That is my opinion from post I have seen here.

Re: Newbies

It's obviously been brought up before, but it seems that as this forum grows there is a proportionate amount of one-time posters who we welcome with open arms, offer advice to, and the OP then disappears after 1 or 2 posts. (Nathan and the moderation team have in essence wiped out the rude reception that some newbies used to get by cracking down on the tree-fiddy thing among other things) We as posters are all for that.

Gene stands steadily at the front door, politely asking for the newbies to follow protocol and acting as the welcoming committee. Many of us newer guys also help out by filling in when we notice a newbie too. We welcome them and try to give them a heads up too.

However, I just want to ask you to take another look at the possibility of setting a minimum number of posts before being able to start a thread.

I think we're all in agreement that this forum works well. I just thought it might be time to re-examine this particular policy.

Either way, I'm with you and so is most everyone else!

Just my 2 dollars divided by 100.

Re: Newbies

It is frustrating when someone posts a question, they get well thought out responses, and then the OP never returns. The only problem with a minimum post count before being able to start a new thread would be that Newb posters (such as the ones who post once and never return) would hijack any existing thread which could be just as frustrating

Good thought. You're probably right about that. Some people will do anything they feel necessary just to get their needs met. (or questions answered by professionals).

I was starting to come up with some ideas, but they would find ways around them. So I deleted them all and typed this paragraph instead.

OK, All is well.
