How Do I Add Signature Line To Old Posts
I just remembered that when adding a signature line to your profile, it does not appear on old posts.
Nathan, can you ask the question on the Vbulletin Forum to see if there is a work around to do that.
If anyone else knows a way to do it by editing each individual post, I will do that if I have to.
I should finally have a web site in a short while and now I realise how valuable that back link really is. I wish I had paid attention much earlier.
I tried that Forum first, but am not allowed to post questions since I am not a user of their software.
Thanks,
Ed
edit:
Okay, now that I just added a line to the signature field, I see how to manually add the signature to a previous post also, but one at a time only.
Is there any way I can add the signature line to previous posts in bulk quantity, or will I have to go back and do them one by one? Please see if you can find out for me.
Also, I recall that I can only go back on my posts to the 500 most previous. Is there another way or permission to go back farther so I can add the signature line to all of my old posts?
Thanks,
Ed

There is a "see all posts"
button hidden in there some where.
If I found it (which I did)
I'm sure you can.

Just went back to post #1.
The stuff on the left changes,
but not the signature at the bottom
of the posts.
Do an advance search, all posts
by you, and choose sort in
"ascending order".
#1 is first on the list.
Good luck!

The "See All Posts" button only goes back 500, if I remember correctly. I checked that out before.
I just added some text, for the first time, into a signature line for myself, but it only automatically implants the new sig line content into current posts, not old archived posts.
I can go back into each individual post I made, if I can find them all and click on the new box that now appears in the Advanced Edit function, to insert the signature line into them, one at a time. But, that means I wil have to do that 3,400 times, if I can somehow find every one of my posts.
This is an Extremely valuable lesson for those members that do not currently have a web site, but may get one some day, regarding the power of the backlinks from your website address in your signature. It makes your site seem so much more important.
I checked out a few different sites, and see where their backlinks are coming from and it is very powerful in terms of assisting your rankings to be found.
Me, like a dumb chit, knew that advice a long time ago, but did not add the sig line. When I finaly do get a website up and running, I can go into the current signature text and change it, and all posts that have a sig in them, wil automaticaly be changed as well.

Thanks. I will check that out. Maybe I wil be limited to the Oldest 500 and the newest 500 doing it that way, but at least that is some help.

Just let us know when you get the website up and all the members here will click it everyday for a week. We will get you ranked in no time
I just looked there are 24K plus members that would be a nice bump in rankings for sure

Can you just add it in the profile, or
whatever that is over on the left?
<<<<----
I think that will automatically
change them all.

Thanks, but I think that would actually hurt the rating if it seemed so suspicious.

I will have to ask if the bots scan that portion for backlinks. I don't think so, because when I checked a site that shows where the backlinks come from, none of the profile sections were the reason.

I'm in the same boat as Ed, although w/ just a fraction of the posts....
I just added my website link to my sig and the only thing I can figure for old posts is to go back and add the link manualy.

That only works if you already had some content in the signature line to begin with.
If a dimb chit user never entered one in the first place, even though he knew he should have, the automatic change in the sig line wil only change them as far back as when you first started using a signature line, not previous posts before the change.
As an example, check out any post I made from yesterday or earlier. The signature text does not carry over to those that I had with nothing in the sig line.
Oh well, my secretary has a new things to do list.
Ed

Key words would be:
Add a signature line,
and Add to a signature line.

MD,
That sites primary purpose when I created it, was just to get about 300 photos into the hands of an uncooperative insurance adjuster, since I could only e-mail 3-5 photos at a time.
I added a few other job photos after that, just to see if that made my life easier to have my own Gallery so I could submit photos at the snap of a finger onto multiple forums, because it had a very simple photo upload and resize feature and it was free. All I have to do, is go onto that forum and go into Edit mode and copy/paste the URL's from the photos into a new post. No resizing and attaching involved.
The URL for my site coming soon, is www.rightwayroofingcompany.com
but, the only thing done on it so far, is the input of my company Logo and it still needs to be formatted a little better. It is too flattened out horizontally and too streched out vertically.
Ed

I don't think it will adversely affect your ranking if you don't have link backs on all you posts. I think it is better to have a links on many sites, rather than having one site with 3,000 links.
