Changing My User Name?

I’m fully aware my user name has a certain amount of shock to it. It does get recognized doesn’t it? I’m also aware it’s very unprofessional but dang folks. What’s really going on? It looks like a few people are unhappy so I guess it needs to change. I’ve seldom been a person to judge a book by its cover, but it looks like I have to do something. I don’t fully understand the reason, but if its going to make people happier in some way I’m not beyond changing it to keep the peace.

I thought vBulletin logged IP addresses in order to keep banned trouble makers from simply re registering with a new name. It’s the norm on every vBulletin I’ve been on although I’ve never been banned. I also know most vBulletin site owners can change a users name keeping the old users original posts.

I’m sorry this has to be brought to your door step Nathan, but from what I’ve seen I guess I have to do something. Can my name be changed keeping my original posts? “I’d prefer that”. If not can I re register with this computers IP already logged into your system? The name I’ll change to is (MasterStrokes) It’s the name given to a book by Jennifer Bennell.

I was going to PM you or send you an e-mail Nathan, but I wanted to give my side of the story. I’m not beyond changing the name but you’ll never see me questioning another about theirs.

OK, Someone mentioned they wonder why people don’t use their real names as a registered board name. “No thank you”. I’ve got nothing to hide but I know the Internet. The SpyBots are out there. GoogleAdsense, MSNBot, Yahoo!Slurp and many other information gathering programs are being used to gather everything and I do mean everything. Have you ever done a Google search of your real name? It may surprise you.

It wasn’t very long ago I warned a young lady about information she was giving over the Internet. A real example? She used her full on every board she visited. On this board she typed “Oh I live right next to that restaurant”, another “Yeah I go to USF”, another “My Dad makes me drive his ugly red Ford Escort”, another “Oh Greg you know I loved you but I cant”. Greg had searched correctly and had all the information he needed with a few keystrokes. He drove to the area Amy lived in and found her. It’s a true story folks. Out of jealousy He shot Amy Dad and Grandfather in the house. He raped her then shot her and himself. If you’re encouraging others to use their real names on the Internet? I’d think about it.

Re: Changing My User Name?

I had no problem with your username but I have changed it to MasterStrokes.

Let me know if you have any more problems. Also, let me know if you have any issues with members being abrasive towards you. I will warn and then ban people who cause problems.

Thanks

“Thank You Very Much For Your Time Nathan.”

I agree this name is a little more palatable LOL. I didn’t like being the new guy causing problems right off the bat, and meant no harm. It’s resolved now and cast to the wind. I appreciate everyone’s honesty, and I look foreword to interacting with everyone on this great board.

YeeHaw I have something new.

I find your new name extremely offensive!!!! I think it is totally disrespectful to have a username with 2 'r's and 2 'e's in it, and especially a name with a 'r' directly following an 'e' that is just out-rageous!!!!!!!!
Grrr!

I totally agree with Mike! And this name only slightly annoys me; as opposed to disgusting me. Bravo Master-half, uh Half-strokes, uh, Osak Barama, Barak Binlama...whatever

PipeGuyyyy, Loook. I had a lemon and Nathan made me lemonaaade. LOL

Edit: To give Nathan credit. If he hadn’t changed my name I’d still have a lemon.
Edit again: To give PipeGuy credit. Thanks for showing me what a lemon looks like.

Do you put that on your truck(s)?
I've had the TeetorBilt logo on my trucks for years, looks like PeterBilt. I have been waiting for a cease and desist but, so far, it hasn't arrived. One of the advantages of being small potatoes, not worth going after.
