Bump Lock Keys For Sale

Seriously, do we need this kind of advertising on CT?

I've reported the post and asked that Nathan take a look. I'm sure its a google thing. If not, I'll blame them anyway.

It's not a post, but an ad.

Those are all contextual ads from Google. I can ban them one by one but frankly there are thousands of them. If it catches a keyword it's interested in it will show.

Not a private advertiser though... first time I've heard of them.

I remember when I was a kid working at the hardware store I made some up to play around with, learning the skill was a good time killer!

But your post was a post. I reported your post so Nathan could see what was going on. Simplest way to bring it to his attention.

Oh, and ... We're watching you.

Just a tool we use. No reflection on you.

Is any one using bump keys to gain access? I have been thinking about trying them.

I have when I had permission to enter the building. I made a few and they do work on most locks. All your doing is "bumping" the pins in the lock into a certain order so the cylinder turns. I use to pick locks for fun when i was a kid but then I discovered girls to pickI'm damn good at picking them too

It is always reassuring being a lock owner when you see an ad like this...

If a sub or anyone else picked one of my locks, they would not ever work for me again, and the police would be called.

For once I agree with you.

They can use a ladder to get into an upstairs window like everyone else.

Re: Bump Lock Keys For Sale

if you don't give access to your job during normal (in my area) work hours, unless you schedule more days per trade I would not want to work for you. I"m not talking about doing damage or stealing, but PRODUCTION.
If you want the job done...open the f@&!ing door.
If a contractor is such a control freak that they have to have all the keys, make sure the place is open in the morning. I don't think that's asking too much.

Re: Bump Lock Keys For Sale

I've known about this for quite a few years now.The sad part about it is when used the insurance refuses to pay out.
I think there are enough lunatics in this world with out us pointing them in a direction. It's one thing talking to some one personally about this but on the net? This is JMHO but i think this whole thread should be wiped out.

Re: Bump Lock Keys For Sale

The problem lies in the fact many use Kwikset and 5-pin Schlage C locks.

A Kwikset key can be read by eyes, then later made by code using files. These blanks are something like nickel a piece.

There are plenty of bump resistant technology like Assa-Abloy Protec, Schlage Primus, Kaba Peaks etc.

These keys offer quite certain protection against subs making duplicates during lunch.

"do not duplicate" is a concise way of saying "I would prefer if you didn't make copies" as it has no legal bearing in most places.
