Yet Another Greenhorn...

Hey everyone, Mike from Baltimore here. Small contracting owner who is trying to find new ways everyday to keep the biz afloat. My business has always be thriving on word of mouth alone, but in this wonderful market that we are all living in, it has come time to think outside the box. If anyone has any suggestions on how to go to market, please fill me in. My background is in Construction and Business Marketing...imagine that. Any ideas would be great. Look forward to talking.

Welcome Mike.
Marketing suggestions; networking groups, chambers and their events, frequent contact with your customer base, stategic alliances with your vendors, subs, and professional service providers, canvassing around your jobs, open houses of completed projects, share customer lists with key subs and vendors.

I would open a handyman segment in your company. Sure, most jobs lead to about a $300 avg., but this could provide you with the necessary leads for larger projects.

Re: Yet Another Greenhorn...

Mike,

My inlaws (man I hope my comment on that picture of the dog doesn't come around to haunt me) live in Ocean Pines. No where near Baltimore, I know. But they rant a lot about contractors in their area. Can never get them to show up, the arrive late and leave early, schedule a meeting for Tuesday and they show up Friday. Eastern shore time, I think is the term they used. If you ever want to get plugged into Ocean Pines, let me know. They're always looking for handymen and contractors. Decks and such. I think if you hit home runs with service and communication consistently, you'd probably rule the roost down there.

My 2 cents.
