hoorah . really just a carpenter from california moved on to florida in the 90s... framing contractor since 00 , got my door window license last year, trying to stay flexible, doing a lot better than most around here right now, learned a lot from the cali recession of 92.

had a good 10 year run here when all you had to do was open your door to hear nail guns firing, this place has been good to me, got my lots at the right time and built my own home before it got too crazy, now I am doing door and window replacements, and picking up lots of peripheral work from that.

Welcome FlaRaider! Hey, whats the diff between FLA and CA? Not a joke or anything, Just that I've been pondering moving to each of those places! If I it can't get any better than Rochester, N.Y. Well, than I might as well just get into doing some serious drugs like most of the population has done!LOL!

Mostly mountains in Cal, mostly flat in Fla, other than that, VERY EXPENSIVE to live in Cal, not quite as expensive to live well in Fla (lower taxes for sure).
Overall, better quality of life in Fla, less traffic, mostly less crime (stay away from the big 3 cities, Miami, Tampa, Orlando), better fishing in Fla (better surf in Cal but bigger sharks), cheaper green fees, friendlier people.
Summer is one long dry spell in Cal, more weather here in Fla, thunderstorms in the summer, which I tend to like, everything very green here, very yellow in Cal.
Similarities are many, lots of eccentrics, some wealthy(crazies?), lots of sun (but more heat, humidity, in Fla), very laid back atmosphere mostly (lots of surf culture), big development and tourism economies w/ lots of cultural variety.
