Nice To Be Here

I found your site through John Bridge Forums...and it looks like a friendly spot to put up my feet.

20 years in the tile & marble business....until recently, a one-man operation. I just linked up with a fellow with equal experience. He's better educated in wall mud and the old traditional way of doing things. I'm dragging him, yelling and screaming into the 21st century...and he's showing me some things that make me laugh at the "quick" way with things like shower walls and problems with level and square. ("You just screw that board up there? Here, mix up some wall mud and let me show you how it's done!")

Moved from the DC/Virginia area to SE Texas. (Snow, what's THAT?)

Re: Nice To Be Here

Nathan~~

I lived in Falls Church and Fairfax areas. I know Chantilly well!

Charged $5/sq. ft. for basic lay there and was always booked. I moved to Beaumont and I'm scramblin' to hit $2.50 to $3.00 a foot. What a culture shock!

BTW, just got back from Austin (Cedar Park) for Thanksgiving...visiting my brother. I'm thinking about perhaps moving there eventually. Seems the wages are a tad better!?!?

Anyway, thanks guys for the welcome........

The rates are much lower in this area than in Northern Virginia but similar to what I was getting in Orlando. But at least the cost of living is A LOT less.

I know Falls Church well. My grandparents live in Pimit Hills and grew up at McLean Bible Church which is close to Falls Church.
