New To Site Looking For Advice

Hi everyone,

I new to the site and wanted to rack some brains on my situation and see what you guys suggest.
I have recently move to the US from the UK and can't seem to find anyone who can tell me what trade I would be best suited to.
In the UK I trained and qualified as a "Shopfitter". The trade in the UK involves all carpentry, drywall, glazing, tiling and cabinet making/installing that is required to take an empty/old retail outlet and make it new. I don't really know where to look here in the US for this kind of work. Those companies I have found have told me that I do not have the qualifications they require. Would it be to my best interest to go back to trade school? I have over 20 years experience in my trade and have worked without any issues all over Europe and the UK.
I you could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.
Andy

Welcome, here we call your trade "Tenant Improvement" Had some success when I was first starting out, but at the same time, there were flakes trying to start a business on a shoestring, one case, we finished a job on Friday, went to get paid on Monday and the f******s came in over the w/e, stripped out all the equipment and fled to Mexico.
HVAC and Refer is the best trade to go into imho. Good luck, things will get better.

Thanks for your kind welcome. Trying to learn how to navigate this site. I'm in Michigan. With my qualifications should I class myself as a journeyman?
