New To Site From Chas, SC

Sounds like some interesting people on here. I stumbled on this site searching God knows what now. lol
When you been in Construction most of your life it is hard to pass up a site like this without joining just to read & or keep up with things accross the country and have some laughs along the way.
I was raised in Construction, Father a carpenter, Uncle retired Airforce, master electrician, 2nd Uncle a master plumber / steam fitter something or other. Anyhow, growing up and enjoy learning & working I was able to work with all 3 when ever needed. Being young, dumb, & always willing to learn it was easy to always have work.
After school & Army, I began working as a welder, (I got certified for gas, electric, & tin knocking), but being inside a shop looking outside, I found myself wanting to get back out there, so I gave up welding and went to work for a local Contractor. Moved up to job super within months because of previos expeience. Seeing what was out there for Trades, always made me scratch my head for the most part. There were some good ones, but were also a lot that, well, they needed to go back to the drawing board.
The Contractor I worked for talked me into getting my license & Ins and performing the work for him. This worked out great and after a few years when he talked about retiring I picked up a few of his clients and moved on from there. Now, over 30 years later, I still love my work and looking back, would not have chosen any other profession to be in.

Each day, each new job, to each new Customer, is a day we can learn. When we stop learning and think we know all there is to know, we stop living.

Wishing the best to all..

Thanks all.
The longer we are in business and the more we do repair work the more we get that kitty look asking wtf??? Especially after a building boom that has attracted anyone that can spell hammer, thinks experience from sitting on a water closet justifies them being a plumber, think all electricity is the same and if you connect 2 ends of a wire to something it will work, to what ever the trade it may be, just when you think you have seen it all, you find yourself one more time scratching your head wondering how someone could have ever thought up a mess as they have and worst, charge someone for it... lol
In the end, as long as we fix things, earn a dollar, teach a Homeowner the difference between a professional & wanna be, all is good.
How a Homeowner feels when we leave their home, leaves them with an impression for all in our trade.
Happy Holidays all & thanks again

Welcome Burby!

I was born in Charleston but raised in Atlanta but as I sit and type this I am back in Charleston for Thanksgiving. Nearly everyone in my family was in the construction business as well. I'm sure there are some common links.

Welcome to a great site.
