New Member - Erosion Control And Grassing Contractor

Hi, Everyone. I am very excited to have found this site and hope to give and
receive lots of helpful advice. One item I am very interested in is Estimating
projects. Especially Mobilization. What factors and ratios do you use to get
a sufficient price quote for Mobilization on projects. Is anyone else out there
doing erosion control and grassing, either on your own projects or for anyone else? I would love to hear of any new or time saving ideas for any
of this as well as types of equipment used. I look forward to hearing from someone.

I'd tell you welcome to the site, but I too am new here. Welcome anyway! I have always been interested in the erosion control industry. How do you like it so far? Easy to find work? What type of equipment do you utilize? Silt fence plow, hydroseeder?

Mxrace200,

Sorry It Took Me A While To Respond. I Don't Get A Chance To Log
On Every Day. In Answer To Your Question. We Have A 52 Hp John
Deere Tractor With Pretty Much Any Attachment They Make As Well As A 25 Hp Kubota Tractor And Implements. We Have A Straw
Blower For Mulching Purposes And Use The John Deere And Kubota
With Pull Behind Spreaders For Seeding And Fertilizing. We Also
Use A 4 - Wheeler With A Pull Behind Spreader For Small Or Hard To Reach Areas. We Purchased A Silt Fence Trencher And Installer
But Unfortunately, Here In Alabama The Dot Requires 60 Inch
Fabric And The Silt Installer Only Accomodates Up To 48 Inch
Fabric. So We Basically Have A Very Expensive Trencher Since
That's All We Can Use It For Now. We Basically Run Three Trucks
With Various Trailers. We've Only Been In Business A Little
Over A Year But We Are Doing Exceptionally Well. It Was A Lot
Of Work And Research To Get In With The Prime Contractors
In Town, But Once We Did, We Just Did An Excellent Job For
Them. Now I'm In The Process Of Upping My Prices To Where They
Should Be Since They Know They Can Count On The Quality Of
Our Work. We Do Not Do Hydroseeding At This Time, But It Is
Something I Would Like To Look Into Later.

Welcome to the site. We do residential and commercial sitework and we do our own erosion control. We install silt fence, erosion blanket, seeding and mulching. We have a Goosen straw blower. We are interested in purchasing a hyrdoseeder as well.
