Re: New Member
Hi Marquis! I'm a total newbie on this site and just learning how it works, so bear with me! I am a contractor and my wife is a landscape designer here in Seattle. Although the work is plentiful here and generally high end, we are hoping to relocate this spring to the east coast. The cost of living here is just getting ridiculous, and although I am a native of Seattle, I find that I no longer recognize nor enjoy the place. North Carolina has been tops on our short list... just wondering how your experience has been in the Charlotte area? I'm a small time, one man show. I do good, sound work, have excellent references and the kind of clients that most guys would die for... am I crazy for wanting to leave and starting over from scratch? The market is so insane here that although I've owned houses in the past, both my current wife and I were knocked out of the market 10 years ago and have been unable (and generally unwilling) to get back into a $400k Seattle "starter" home. Just looking to do our gigs, do great work and treat people right, somewhere else where we could actually afford to buy something decent. I saw your post from Charlotte, and figured you might have some insight... any advice would be greatly appreciated. Good luck to you and thanks for listening!
