My First Post

Hello everyone...... I'm Eddie from Knoxville, TN and I'm new here...... been reading for a while and figured it was time to join and post a "Hello" and post some of my work....... I'm a roofer by trade, have been since 1980 with my Dad, but this year I've decided to branch out and try something new.

You see...... I've ALWAYS been a do-it-your-self-er.....lol..... and decided to buy and old house and fix it up and re-sell it...... you know........
"Flip this House"..... well....... its worked great for me as I am on my fourth one this year and just got my first new house framed and roofed this saturday !!!! we've always talked about building a new house and seeing if we can sell it, since the older "flips" have went great for us, we thought we give it a try.

I do some really cool faux finishes with chair rail and base cap, creating wainscoting ( squares ) on the walls for a really cool effect.

I have done 2 inlays in my staircase landings, they turned out so great, I am really proud of them. their attached in this post.

Also I do alot of designs in the ceilings...... I have about 60+ molds, I cast them, lay them out in the floor, keep moving pieces around until I'm happy with them and then when I am, I attach them to the ceiling. I'll post a couple of of those pictures too...... I'll post the one with me in the picture starting the outer ring so you can get an idea of how big this one is.
Its over 8ft across with 65 individual pieces that I cast and attached to the ceiling. I have MANY different designs in my house and I'll post some of them if you guys dont mind.

I also built 2 water features in my house..... their like built in book cases with water running down the insides of them, this is probably my favorite thing in the whole house remodel.

speaking of remodel...... this is how the "flip this house" deal started..... I tore the whole roof off my house, rafters and all, set floor trusses and built another entire level on my existing home. then tore the old decks off and built a new one thes 10ft wide and goes 204ft all the way around the house.

I custom build all the hand railing and made it like the rest of the house, totally different from anyones..... even the vinyl siding is different as I did what I call a "sunburst" on both ends ( 28ft wide ) and on the front also out of 2 different colors of siding so it really stands out.

Well....... thank you guys and gals for reading ALL this....lol.....( talk about a LONG Hello ) and please look at some of the pictures I'm gonna post and let me know what you all think of some of my ideas and work.

Re: My First Post

First, welcome to forum, Second, It looks great!!... Question for you. When you means "flip", will you sell this house later? If there is lot of custom work, too much design time, plus personal $$ invested into it like that, do you expect you can find a buyer easy or with high price (in this market) possible? How much do you think this house will be worth once it finished? Will you be able to get back invesment?

Thank you for all the "welcomes" and the compliments.
selfcontract..... the pictures are from my personal home and its not for sale as theres 3 stories and 4536 sq ft of house and 2040 sq ft of deck......
I poured my heart and soul into this house and I couldnt bare to sell it.
As for what I have in it, you wouldnt believe it !! but I will tell you its worth 3 times what I have in it though........ being a do-it-your-self-er sometimes does pay !!!!!!!!!!......lol

The houses that I spoke of "flipping" yes...... I sold the first 3 and I am working on a 4th "flip" and a new home, both for sale here locally...... but each house I have done, yes there is custom work done in each of the 3 homes I have done, faux finishes in each room, fire places with very nice stone work, chair rail, wainscot, crown molding and somewhere in each one I have done, a custom plaster medallion and there will be more custom work done in the "flip" that I have and the new home also..... my track record of selling these "flips" I have done in the past 9 months...... 3 1/2 weeks on the first one, 5 days on the second one and how about not even 1 day but to the very first caller on the third one !!!!!!!!!!! If it works, better not change anything......lol.

Now...... let me tell ya that some things only look expensive....... the faux finishes...... its just paint ( dutch boy, 16.99 a gal at walmart ) and its not a hard thing to do, the inlays..... well.... you can buy a whole assortment of veneer from many sellers on ebay for very little money..... I have a huge box full that I got for 60 bucks I could make 40 or 50 more of those landings, and the plaster stuff I do, their cast from plaster of paris and only cost pennies to make one of the pieces.

Thank you again for the compliments and all you need is a little imagination
and a willingness to try some things..... look at what I have done with my home and I've been just a dumb ole roofer since 1980.......lol
