Just Passed My GC And Law Test This Morning!

Just wanted to introduce myself as the newest licensed contractor to this site. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The test was all done on the computer and it gives you your results right away. I love instant gratification.

Congradulations and welcome!
as to your question:

your most important tool is your reputation. Be fair with everyone, and be willing to walk away from a bad deal/slimy clients.

Pay all your subs on time, they will remember that and when you are in a pinch they will be available.

oh, and get a really cool truck! LOL

Re: Just Passed My GC And Law Test This Morning!

Looking back over the years, probably one of the biggest mistakes I ever made was getting my General license. While I've done a handful of jobs that required a license of that magnitude, the majority of my work could have been done with a Builder's license. All in all, I've paid out about a quarter of a million in insurance premiums. I estimate I could have gotten by for well under half that amount holding just a Builder's.
