Re: I Would Like To Know The Best Way To Install 3/4 Hard Wood On Solid Slab Concrete
hello amber you might like this answer or you might not. The only way to fasten 3/4 hardwood to a concrete slab is to first lay down 4mil or thicker plastic vapor barrier then fasten down 5/8 or 3/4 pressure treated plywood sheathing to the concrete slab. This will give you a surface that you can nail your 3/4 hardwood to. The only type of floor that you can glue down directly to the slab without and vapor barrier would be an engineered floor, which is usually 3/8 to 5/8 of an inch thick.

I like 1X sleepers @12" oc over 6mil myself. Either way you have some real grief with doors, jambs, etc. And 1˝" transitions are pretty ugly,MHO.

No real easy way to attach hardwood to a slab unless you planned for this from the beginning. That way, things could have been designed and done the correct way so that you do not have 1 1/2" transitions stated above.

Re: I Would Like To Know The Best Way To Install 3/4 Hard Wood On Solid Slab Concrete
I've had to install radiant floor panels over concrete (owner decided to add this, after the slab was long since poured).
We put down insulation/vapor barrier, then used tapcons to tack down the panels. The tapcons predictably don't all hold, but a ramset woulda split the panels. |
