Welcome to the site

Live and Work in NY...Play in Vermont on Lake St. Cathrine! Built my first house there! Just South of you.

Have to say though, none of the guys I worked with up there had a fax or even cell phone let alone computer It was kind of nice though, working without interruptions. Forgot what that use to be like.

The lake is about 10 min. from my house. I do some work there from time to time. I live in the slate valley area. Closer to Manchester than Rutland. Cell service is still not the best over here, and your right, its amazing how much you can get done without the constant interuption from the phone.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome!

Re: Hello From Vermont

I'll be heading up there in a few days, how much snow do we have? Are the lakes frozen over?

Do you happen to know Dave Fenton or Doug Davenport?

Re: Hello From Vermont

We have about 8" of snow now, but the temp is about 40 deg. at the moment. The lakes were just starting to freeze over.

I don't know to many folks around here. I made a living as a Project Superintendant for many years in commercial construction and had to work out of town mostly.

I grew up in Syracuse, NY then lived in Lake Placid, NY for a few years. I got tired of snow so I packed up my truck one day and moved to Nashville, TN. I got to meet my wife there who never saw snow like this and wanted to live up north. We bought a house here in Vermont about 5 years ago. So far, everyone's happy! Thank God, I'm gettin' tired of movin'.

Re: Hello From Vermont

Well you pick a good Centrally Located, Financially Stable area. There and many areas up there that are and have always been Economically Depressed.

Those guys are Local Boys (men) Born, Raised and Never Left. Both are EXCELLENT Contractors! Dave is a General Contractor and can do it all. Doug is an Excavator and worth every penny!

Even though I was GC on the house up there, I stepped down and would work under Dave when he was on site. He has forgotten more than I will ever know!

I have found that other than during Hunting Season, (can't find a contractor at all then) the guys up there are Hard Working, Ethical, Friendly "Good ol Boys" Sure there will always be some bad apples, but for the most part, I enjoyed working with most of the contractors up there.

Jason,
Not sure if your accountant or attorney told you this, but as an LLC. You are a MEMBER not owner, partner, CEO, or any other title. Stating otherwise will or can cause piercing of the LLC protection.

Make sure you sign any business documents with Member after your name. Including (and most important) any contracts between you and customers.

Good Point,

I just hate to call myself "President" or "CEO" and haven't come up with any other titles that sound right. I should just can the "Owner" part. My past business was a Sole proprieter, the owner thing is force of habit.

My region is Canadian border, New York border down to 128/95 in MA, so yeah, I'm all over the place in VT. Mostly Burlington, Rutland, White River Jct, and occasionally Stowe. Don't forget the "e" on Stowe, they'll know you're not a local and prolly make a snowman outa you LOL.

You need to have it turned on first, but I don't think you can PM until you get your post count up, then it will appear. You would click on the persons name and select it there.
