Hello From The Isle Of Man ("where On Earth Is That?")

Well I have finaly plucked up the courage to say "Hello". My name is David and I am a plumber/bathroom re-modeler from the Isle of Man (GB). The Isle of Man is the small blob in the Irish Sea halfway between Liverpool and Belfast, quite famous for our motorcycle racing (IOM TT) and our cats that have no tail, population about 80,000.
I am always looking for ways to improve and do things a little better and I have been impressed with the info/tips I have found on your web pages and construction tips on US pages in general, you boys certainly have it to a fine art.
Looking forward to being a member of your community, also looking forward to my first trip to the US (Florida) in April 09.

Best Regards to All

David

Isle of Man??? The greatest Place In the World!!!!

Taxes, anyone?

And Quite Beautiful to Boot!!

Welcome to CT.

As a Brit., you have a Humour (your spelling) that typically is dry and coarse. There are quite a few fookers here that can be just that way.

Never take offense. It is all "In a days work".

Have fun. Educate us. Become educated and NEVER feel hesitant to spout off at random stupidity! (there is quite a bit of that here)

MARK

Welcome. I love motorcycles and cats with no tails.

One of my cabinetmakers is from Liverpool. Calls everyone a "Scowser". (spelled wrong no doubt)
Sound familiar?

Thanks for your replies fellas and making me feel so welcome. Yep your right about about Mark Cavendish he is a pretty famous Manxie, world champion cyclist not to mention his tour de france stage wins, also just thought about David Knight world champion motocrosser he is from here too, Sulby in fact, I supose we don't do to bad for a little place after all. Nice to here you have scouser on your team Bodger, he is the one thats a scouser by the way, anyone from Liverpool is known as a scouser, next time you see him say " alright dare wack" should make him laugh!

Re: Hello From The Isle Of Man ("where On Earth Is That?")

first thing that came to mind when i read the title is the motorcycle race. I think (may be wrong) its called the deadliest motorcycle race in the world cuz of the number of deaths sense the start.

Any way welcome to ct

Hi Davey and welcome to the site.I'am afraid you got your terminology a little bit wrong it should be alright dere lar, (I'am a scouser) .Had some great times on the isle.whats your motto "no matter witch way you throw me I will stand on two legs".Ive meet a few manxmen that would have trouble with that LOL.I once had the isle discribed to me as 80,000 alcaholics clinging to a rock in the middle of the Irish sea, just a joke Davey or should it be Dava, welcome aboard.
