Hello From The Great Lakes State!

Just registered here. My name is Jeremy and own my own siding and window company in west Michigan. I was an employee for 12 years right out of high school and decided last spring to become an entrepreneur. I find this sight very knowledgable and helpful. It is very interesting to see the different practices in installation in different geographical areas.
Thank you CT!

Re: Hello From The Great Lakes State!

Well, I've been told not near as bad as the east side, but have no experience with the east side to know if that is true or just coming from complainers. I do know that new construction is very slow over here. My business focuses on existing homes. I find it alot easier to sell myself and my work to homeowners over builders. I had a better than expected first year and believe if I continue to put my faith and trust in whom it belongs, my business will continue to grow.

Welcome Jeremy. I'm over in the Metro Detroit area. Still quite a bit of work over here, just a lot more people going after the same piece of pie. Add in all the layed off people that don't have the overhead that are underbidding us contractors and it gets even tighter.

Years ago I had an all black snowmobile and my suit was all black as well. Just worked out that, wasn't trying ti fit my wardrobe to the sled. Friends started calling me Johnny Cash and it stuck. I also use the name on all my snowmobile forums.

Done, thanks. No siding today, I hate the wind. I can take snow, rain, heat and cold, but the wind gets the best of me. Maybe it has something to do with 12 and 18' vinyl wings!

Re: Hello From The Great Lakes State!

I once tried to do a repair job on ALUMINUM siding in 20mph winds and 10degrees. Only an old polock like me would be so dumb.

You have to get in line behind Boy Scout Troop 213 and the Calancey Boys Choir.....

You're right can't compete with the boy scouts. Maybe put in a revolving door in the coach's office?
