Hello Everyone!

Hi my name is Ian. I'm residing in Toronto Canada. I have worked as a painter with my father for the past 10 years! I am also graduating from an architectural science program at Ryerson University. I have also recently enrolled with the CIQS (Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors) where I hope to achieve a designation of CEC (Cost Estimator Certified) and PQS (Professional Quantity Surveyor). After graduation I hope to work as a cost estimator doing take offs and preparing bids as well as a project manager.
I decided to join this forum so that I can obtain valuable information from people who are actually out there working in the field who have knowledge of things that I may have not learned in school.

Re: Hello Everyone!

Welcome aboard. The secret to surviving in this biz is knosing which jobs to walk away. So look for the terminology in contracts that allowes one to at least recapture all the costs and hopefully make a profit on every job.
