Hello From Australia
Hello everyone,
My name is Max, I'm new to this site and I have a question (I didn't know where to post it, so I'll do it here), so here it goes: I've been working as a draftperson for a ventilation company for one year and 3 months, during that time all I've been doing was Cad (2005) so I see myself competent at it. I didn't go to University, but I did a one year Diploma course at TAFE college (Diploma in Detail Drafting) and currently I'm getting paid AU$16.00/hr. Is that payment OK based on the above qualification and time spent at that company? Thanks in advance, and apologies if I posted in the wrong place Max here from Sydney, Australia |

Re: Hello From Australia
Salary questions - try going to Monster.com - they have a salary area but I am not sure Australia is in there
Assuming you wish to hang around & are not a 1 hit wonder - Welcome to CT, there is a drafting & ventilation area, where you may be able to help out & also ask questions Mind putting your location in your profile? |

Re: Hello From Australia
You'll also find that most here are not very PC. If you are a man, you are a draftsman. If you are a woman, you are a draftsman.

I don't really know what a draftsperson should make, but I have lived in Oz and as a foreigner working there I can say I was making more, and at a job I had never done. It was also several years ago. I worked for a flooring company doing timber floors and parquetry and the law was I made whatever the award wage was. Does drafting have an award wage? That would be the simplest answer. Keep in mind the award is the lowest they can pay, no? Being there over a year I'd say you should make more than the award. |
