Welcome!
I live upstate, about 100 mi. N or the city, but I grew up in Hicksville. My mom is in St. James and a sister in Kings Park. I really don't envy contractors down there these days. Everything from the traffic to the people themselves. It was bad 15 years ago and seems worse every time I come back down. I have also heard many horror stories from customers. It seems it is quite hard to find an honest contractor. If you do the right thing down there and not screw people you'll be on top of the world.
