Greetings From Australia
Hi people, my name is Craig I am a Carpenter by trade and these days I own and operate a Timber yard that specializes in timber flooring, we have three showrooms currently. Even though I have been doing this for about 23 years, you never stop learning nor do I want to. So to broaden my knowledge I found this site to see how people in other countries do things and see if there is new methods we havent tried or if I can help some of you. I look forward to chatting with many of you in the future and sharng tips.
Cheers |

Re: Greetings From Australia
Welcome!!
I was in Australia a few years ago to get married and vacation. It was the most beautiful place I've ever been. We were started in Port Douglas and worked our way down the Great Ocean Road to your neck of the woods and little west to the 12 Apostles. A day hasnt gone by with either the wife or me saying how we would love to move there.

Re: Greetings From Australia
Glad to hear you like the place. Got to say having travelled a little bit, I feel I live in the best Country in the world. I found there a lot of great places to visit but I wouldnt want to live anywhere but here. I haven't made it the States yet though, Im hoping to get there this year for the Moto GP and to have a look around.

Re: Greetings From Australia
I talked with some guys from down under a few years back at world of concrete. They said that all portland was imported. They made it sound that the concrete guys were pretty efficient and creative with their concrete and mix designs. Do you have the same take on this? How much is concrete down there?

Re: Greetings From Australia
Concrete is used here in a big way, almost every house is built on a concrete slab. Concrete became big here in the 50s and 60s when the Greeks and Italians came to Australia. I dont think they were big fans of grass because they covered every thing that doesnt move in concrete. Now days we are getting more and more into patterns and epoxy coatings and so on but from what I have seen we are behind in this area compared to the States. Its an area I wouldnt mind finding out more about.
