Greetings From Alaska

Hello to all! This is a great forum. Kudos to the creators. It looks like you have some cool participants also.
I'm a GC in Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula. I have been active in most phases of construction for more than 35 years. I currently hold a residential endorsement but I may let it go because the legality is not worth the effort or cost. I am leaning more toward working alone these days for multiple reasons. My latest project is the interior finish phase of a 2500 sq ft residential airplane hangar with 1200sqft of living space. Many of my project involve recreational/vacation homes or remodels. I seldom hire subcontractors unless the scope of the projects excede my physical ability or legal requirements.
I look forward to interacting with your forum and it's members.

Mics

mics -

Welcome to the forum. Glad to have you!

I really am jealous about your location. Fished out of Homer for halibut and several times on the Kenai, where I could not believe the number and different types of fish we saw and caught. - The last time, I quite fishing about noon and just enjoyed watching everthing. - The river, eagles, bears, the fish and my fishing partners reactions.

Welcome Mics,

Your gov Sarah Palin was just down here in South Florida. A long way from home! Glad to see members from way up there.

Re: Greetings From Alaska

Welcome to the forum. Fun stuff here.

My little bro was stationed in AK, but he just shipped over to "the Iraq."

Stepmom got to shake hands with Sarah Palin a few weeks back; my bro and her son are in the same company.

Re: Greetings From Alaska

Thanks everyone for the welcome. Hats off to those taking care of business in Iraq. Dick, I wish I got to enjoy the fishing more but I usually end up working my butt off all summer so I can eat all winter.
Seth your brother must be with the Striker Brigade. I hope whoever takes over for GWB takes care of our men over there. Cheers.

Yep, bingo. I talked to him (and saw him) via Skype just the other day, which was awesome. He said things haven't been too rough. They are packed in like sardines, but building more space to live as we speak.

That kid is one of the craftiest, hardest working, loyal kids I've ever met. I mean, really unique. He has been since he was a tot. Tying flies when he was 11, slaying trout, etc.

I wanted to get him framing houses with me, but the Army got him first. But he really believes in it.

.."But he really believes in it."

It's my hope that we, Americans, might resolve to make sure those men have no doubt that we support them 110% in our words and our deeds. Send him my best.

Amen, brother.

(Selfishly, though, I wouldn't mind one bit if he flew straight home tomorrow, you know?)
