Good Morning

I just happened across this forum by accident, while looking for the weight of a trailer I am trying to sale. Figured why not sign up. never know what business contacts you can make.

I am on several motorcyle forums as Fencer, but that moniker was already taken here, go figure. But maybe you guys wont think I play with swords. The FJR in the name is just one of my bikes.

You can look in my sig line and find out about my Co through the link.

Now, I will be a post whore in bad form and make my second post in the for sale section. Maybe one of you can use a good enclosed trailer

Re: Good Morning

Welcome.

What percentage of the trailer weight do you figure rests on the tongue? for example, if the trailer axles are rated for 6 tons and the box weighs 4 tons, this means you can haul 2 tons plus what is resting on the truck. If you can figure that 50% rests on the truck, then you can load (2 from the bed on the truck plus (.5x8) =4. 4 +2=6. But I don't think 50% rests on the truck. So how much rests on the truck?

I was searching for an GVW of the trailer not tongue weight.

I found the answer (approximate) on a trailer thread here by compairing size and others empty posted weight.

but my guess would be 10% rest on the tongue, but that would vary depening on single vs dble axle and how it was loaded
