CNY Handyman/Contractor
Hi everyone, Just stumbled on this site, could be helpful. I have been in contracting since 2001. Still much to be learned about business in general, I have always worked by myself and never really talked to others to learn about pricing myself. WOW am I behind! Besides doing quality work I'm beggining to understand otherwise, why everyone loves me so much, I don't charge enough, I always charge to make the client comfortable and happy and short myself! This is making a rough life for myself and I will be changing that. I do most anything but my preference is finish, trim, tile, and I make cabinets as well. Are there others out there that work solo all the time?

Welcome, toolguy, from another solo act.
I'll pass on a bit of advice that woke me up and helped me: Stop being such a nice guy, you need to treat your business like a business and not a charity. It's understandable that some of your customers don't have a lot of money, but neither will you if you don't charge what you have to. |
