Work Truck Insurance / Personal Or LLC ?

I have been back in the trades about 18 months now. I currently have a work van that I have titled to me personally. As far as the insurance company is concerned it is a second vehicle and I didn't mention anything about it being a work vehicle when I got the insurance. That was a couple of years ago when I was between jobs. The insurance is ultra cheap.

I just bought a newer 1999 Ford E 250 Van in pristine condition, partitions. shelves, etc. Last May I formed an LLC and operate under it. When I got my Gen Liability Ins I went over the titling of a work vehicle at that time. My broker mentioned that I could title personally and lease the truck to the LLC...and get personal lines insurance. We didn't go into the whole deal.

I'm thinking of titling it in the LLC for the most protection. This would be commercial lines insurance and believe it will be 30% - 50% more than titling it personally. I got a quote online and followed up by phone from a large national insurance company. And yes the newer van as my primary business vehicle. Must be titled personally or its commercial lines. They don't offer ins if titled in a LLC. Their quote was the same cost as I'm paying now for my car and current work truck. My insurance brokers asst called today and wanted to know how I'm titling the newer vehicle ?

You guys know a lot more about this than I do. What do you guys do ? Title the truck in the LLC or personally ?

Steve
