99 F350 4x4 DRW Powerstroke
00 Excursion SUV 4x4 Powerstroke

Been looking for a 99-00 E350 Powerstroke to have a full set. The other day saw a home owner who was given a card drive by and he had a red diesel Ford van which is exactly what I want. Perhaps he will be offered a trade for doing his roof. Must have 60+ squares.

99's and 00's are the cream of the crop Powerstroke motors, last years Navistar put the forged rods in them.

All the people I know with 6.0 Powerstrokes have nothing but trouble.

Yeah, my uncle's a mobile mechanic (fleet work), says that Ford has lost more money on warranties with the 6.0 then any other Ford motor!

Just look at the fighting between Ford and International over the cost of those recalls and warranty work.

We have a chevy 3500 cargo van with the KUV body, and a 6.0L. Great truck apart from the fact that it burps every time you shut it off!

Great for mat's in the snow & rain. I can load 12" trim & wood, 4x8 sheet goods & close the doors. Dry safe & clean.

Weekend rolls around, clean out the tools, put the rear seats up and Sweetie & I are driving in stlyle.

I like the versatility of having 2 vehicles in 1 package.

I'm a Ford guy so I have been looking at an Excursion. I can see the benefits of having a "dual purpose" vehicle but here's the problem. I don't haul a lot of material but when I do, it can be pretty heavy. Not so much 4x8 sheets but more of tile. A ton of drywall is about the most I'd carry which is well within the capacity of an Excursion however, it's max capacity is a scant 2200lbs. I can get a gas F150 super cab 4x2 with 8' bed that'll haul 2600lbs.
If you add the fact that I'm looking for a diesel, the Excursion just doesn't make sense in that way (overall cost). Now if I look at an F350 DRW, my capacity just went up to 4600lbs!
With the F350 weighing just a bit less than the Excursion, I think MPG is NOT an issue.
I wish the Excursion was more appealing to me but with the limited capacity (Suburban is similar), it just can't be an option
