Vehicles. Work And Pleasure

what do you drive?
personally for work i have a 1995 ford e250. 120k and it is a workhorse.
for pleasure 2001 audi a4 piece of crap. but im never in it anyway and the girlfriend likes it so.

are you loyal to one brand of truck. particular body style pickup vs. cargo van etc.?

just curiuos i had a 85 dodge ram van 3 years ago and i honestly will not go back to dodge.
i understand im probably not being fair since the dodge was over 20 years old . but the e series has a lot more power and smoother ride in my opinion.

Re: Vehicles. Work And Pleasure

Hey I'm really brand loyal

My work truck is a 1T dually chevy with a utility body
My play truck (carries my (Head) hot-air balloon) is a 1T dually Ford crew cab
I have a 1T dually International with a dump bed
A classic 66 Ford 3/4 ton
A 1949 Chevy p/u show truck

My car is a Buick, Wifes car is a Buick, and have a 1948 Windsor coupe in the garage.

As long as it's American Iron, I'm loyal to it. Don't even try to sell me a rice burner.

Re: Vehicles. Work And Pleasure

I'm pretty brand loyal. I've had mostly Chevy's and currently the family vehicle is a GMC Yukon. Last year though I took a new job as a foreman back up in MN. Part of the foreman deal was of course a company pickup (3/4 ton). To my surprise, the company only purchases Fords. So I was given a brand new F-250 superduty. It's been close to a year now since I started working here and I've gotta say....Me likes the new Fords!! Ok I said it....Seriously, it's a great truck. Pulls well, has a lot of power for just a 5.4. You know what I like most of all though??? Free gas!!!! In this day and age, with the gas prices the way they are, it could say "steaming pile of poop" on the grill and I'd be driving it proudly!

Re: Vehicles. Work And Pleasure

I like chevy myself, I think the IFS chevy has is by far the best for road use, alot of off road can screw it up. I think the best work truck would have a GM 4.3L in it. My jimmy has one and its not fast but has enough power to git r done and never breaks down. My work truck has a mechanicly injected 6.5L. With gas prices so high I think a 4.3 is about the only way to go, its reliable, easy on gas, parts are cheap, easy to work on if you ever need to.

Re: Vehicles. Work And Pleasure

I'm mostly brand loyal with the work trucks-FORD!!!

1999 F250 Powerstroke x-cab short bed 252K miles, bought when a year old with 40K miles. Chipped running 22 psi with five inch exhaust. It's life towing is mostly over and is used mainly on bids.
1999 F350 Powerstroke crew cab long bed dually 133K miles, bought with 123K miles Fall of 06.
2000 Excursion Powerstroke fully loaded like the dually wifes daily driver 183K miles bought with 104K miles.
1965 Mustang 289 V8 four barrel wifes summer car she traded her 5.8 litre 95 Bronco for it!
1986 Dodge Omni Shelby GLHS (sort of like a go kart on steroids thanks to Mr. Carroll Shelby himself! Mine is mostly stock #284 of 500 made. Fully restored with 88K miles. Carrolls #1 is far from stock with 492 horse power, keep in mind in a 2,300 lb Omni.
1999 Dodge Neon RT blue with gray stripes. The car is very slow compared to the Omni but gets good fuel mileage. Traded the car got rid of another rare Shelby Dodge car a 1989 Shelby CSX-VNT, another car Carroll Shelby still drives from time to time. At SEMA 2006 he showed up in it!
At time owned the fallowing all at once!
85 Dodge Omni GLH X2 one blue one silver
85 Shelby Charger X2 both black and silver
87 Daytona Shelby black T2
88 Lancer Shelby white T2
88 Daytona Shelby X3 one white, one maroon, one red all T2
89 Daytona Shelby blue and silver T1
The problem I found was I averaged about 500 miles between breakdowns just like the 86 GLHS and the old 89 CSX so in a three month period either parted out or sold everyone but the two real Shelby's From Jan-March 04. Actually came out ahead on most of the cars by parting them out and selling the parts on Ebay.

Then there's the toys,
2006 Polaris 800EFI Camo, plow, winch, 130 miles.
1999 6.5x12ft custom built fish house on wheels.
2004 custom built 11x17ft fish house one Lake of the Woods.
16ft 75hp aluminum fishin boat.
16ft camper/fish house!

And the work trailers,
2004 PJ 14ft dump trailer 14 yard
2004 H&H 20ft tilt bed trailer
2002 utility trailer
2006 utility trailer
1998 14ft Haulmark enclosed trailer

Just paid off the Excursion and atv and now only owe on the dually, not bad for 28 I guess. What I want to do after I build the garage next Summer is to put a real muscle car in it. Went from a 14 acre hobby farm with 4K sq ft of pole buildings to a 1 acre tiny house in the city with a puny two car detached garage. Luckily my pops has a 5 acre hobby farm and lets me store the stuff there!!!
