Vehicle Vinyl Wrap

Anyone use vinyl wrap on their work trucks/vans? Are you happy with it? Pricing? I have been looking into it. Right now we are waiting for a few sales reps to get back to us. Most of this is done by 3m trained installers. The second link has a awsome video of what it looks like.

Re: Vehicle Vinyl Wrap

First question: How much? Not that I'm not willing to pay good price for a good quality product, but if it's more than a paint job then.... why not just get a paint job?

Unless of course after the intial materials purchase, you could move it to a different vehicle for labor only, then that's a different story. But it doesn't look like that would be possible.

Second question: When rocks, salt, etc hit the vinyl...is it going to come off or get nicked. Then, in their example, you would have an orange truck with little white spots at the bottom around the wheel wells.

Im working on getting a price. I figure a good paint job will be about $1,000 for our van with us doing prep, tape, $100 to rent the booth and father in law doing the spray. But then when you figure in the cost of graphics and such it could well hit $2,000 total price.

Not movable

I will be sure to ask that one. Thanks for that. Never thought of that. At least can it be repaird.

I know after tinting my windows this weekend im sure not gonna ask if it can be self installed.

Re: Vehicle Vinyl Wrap

I have a buddy in the singage business and I asked if he ever checked out the body wraps since some professional race car teams have gone this route as well as many larger corps with their company vehicles. Prices typically start out at the $3500 and go up from there. The printer that produces this and ink needed for inital set-up is right at the $40,000 mark so they have to charge to make their money back somehow.

It's not reusable and not repairable, it's no different than any other vinyl lettering, it will get scratches/marrs/knicks and the original vehicle substrate will then become visable. Best you could do is get like colored touch up paint or vinyl and patch theses area's.

Imagination and buget are the only limiting factors for this cover up, you'd definately have a company vehicle that sticks out when done right, but you'll be money ahead just having a nice looking vehicle with some professional lettering done to it weather it be multi layer vinyl or screen printed single layer.

Re: Vehicle Vinyl Wrap

You may want to consider re-sale value prior to a wrap.

My trucks usually roll out at $5-3.5K at the end and usually go to other construction workers. They would have to remove the wrap and repaint which would de-value the vehicle. Just thinking ahead.

If you're making enough money to qualify the expense of it, I guess losing some more on the back end wouldn't matter.

Do you believe that it will generate $5K+ in business to offset both losses?
