Offer On A 2002 Astro?

It was the former parts delivery vehicle for a large Chevy dealer. Service records up the ying yang. High mileage (275,000 kilometers, 150,000 miles?).

Drove it today. Appears to be real tight. $5886. Thoughts?http://www.trader.ca/powerpage/detai...4&adid=5646263

It's actually 172,000 miles. Stupid metrical system.

very high mileage, but what can be majorly wrong in 4 years of use? IMO...not much

The mileage seems like the only downfall--I would offer 5000-5500. Get some sort of warranty or free oil changes for life or some kind of incentive, and you'll be golden. Ask them to do a huge inspection too and fix anything and everything.

I think I'll buy it. Maybe I'll drive it to my mechanic and have a him look over it. Anyone ever done that?

come on, you're not pickin up the youngest, prettiest gal on the corner. she's got a few tricks on her. if you're buying it right, why would you care if you had to throw a few bucks into it along the way as long as it runs good now?

Re: Offer On A 2002 Astro?

What was one of those worth back in 92 when it was new? Vehicles depreciate 30% per year (might as well say 5 years old), as 2002's are sold in 2001.... I drive 20 - 30K per year, sooooo 30k x 5 yrs old, is what in miles????

Figure that out, and compare it to what they're asking...

These vans are available with all wheel drive, I've owned 2 and they were amazing in the winter. Two wheel drive is not too bad if you have snow tires all around and weight in the back and a light accelerator foot. A friend of mine recently bought a '98 2 wheel drive, fully loaded passenger van with with 313000 kms. for $3000. It was original owner, well maintained, and looks and runs mint. He's a flooring contractor and loves it! Chris, your '02 sounds like a bargain

Sold! $6200 all in, (taxes - 14%, license, painting two sides over old lettering, and fixing a few small things.) It's getting all new tires too.

Ahh, what to do with the Pathfinder now...I hate getting rid of cars. I know I'll miss the 4 wheel drive after the first snowfall.

You mean like today?

The 97 E250 I just bought through the Trader I have noticed has a tendency to slip a little more than I am comfortable with in light mud and now light snow.. Looks like I will be getting some snows for this thing.

Check around with fleet managers to see if they have any surplus. A few years ago we were on RCN's list to call when they were getting rid of surplus vechicles. They use/d the Astro vans and would take good care of them. The prices were a little lower than what KBB/Edmonds would quote.
