Now I Can Dump On You All...

I picked this up yesterday. 6x10 x 10k.

Unfortuntately or fortunately, it's practically filled already. I literally drove it from the dealer to the jobsite.

I spent today making the side wall extensions which is when I took this photo.

I think this purchase will soon convert debris removal from a liability to an asset for me. Debris has been a thorn in my side from the get go.

Nice trailer... How much did it run you. I have thought about getting one but I have been using roll offs for most of my stuff saves a lot of time not having to run to the dump.

Re: Now I Can Dump On You All...

Hey Greg
I have a Bri Mar 5'x8' single axle with extended sides. Best investment I've made. Works great, easy to maneuver and get into tight spots.

Does your 7 point plug do a trickle charge for the battery? , I keep a battery charger in the pump box so I can throw a quick charge on it if it's been sitting a long time in the cold.

On one trip, I got to the dump with a really heavy load. About -10 degrees & frozen plaster wall debris. I hit the button and it just went urhghggggg. Dead battery. The dump guy came right over with one of those battery booster packs, connected the cables & vroom. Done!! I keep one in the truck now.

Just a war story. You won't have that proplem for quite some time. Good purchase!!!!

I had a local trailer dealer do my wiring package since the f-tards that installed the 10k hitch/7-wire plug at the dealer/fitup place did not run a brake wire. Long story short, they had to tear out all the existing wiring that was good because it was so whacky.

When they ran all the new wire for the brakes and what have you, I had them run the charge feed as well. I believe it's the #4 pin for Bri-Mars. I actually had the wiring guy speak to the trailer dealer to verify all this.

I've heard about the batteries dying at the worst times, so I figured running that feed wire was a no brainer.

This trailer was $4900 with the combo gates. The combo gates are not-standard on the dump trailers and everyone I spoke to said they are a must have item.

I looked at several brands and Bri-Mar is the local favorite by far. I figured if I want to sell it, I'll have an easier time with this one rather than some of the more obscure brands. Plus, Bri-Mar is built heavier duty than most with a thicker bottom and sides, LED lights, better welds, etc...

Apparently, trailers are VERY regional. You may be able to get another brand for much less out by you. It all has to do with freight from the factory. Dump trailers are really heavy compared to enclosed trailers, so they can only get a few in a load to the dealer. If it costs $2500 to get the truck from the factory to the dealer with 8 trailers on it as opposed to 3 dumps, the freight is divied up more/less.

I really wanted to get a PJ Trailer, but the freight costs put them at least $300 more than the Bri-Mars and I would've had to travel about 2 hours each way to get it, which would tack on $125 in gas at least.

Watch out where the back gate drops down, one of my subs has one and screws, nails and broken glass fall out all the time. He jokes about it being a design feature so you have less weight by the time you get to the dump.

Re: Now I Can Dump On You All...

Congratulations on a dump trailer purchase!!
Nice Trailer.

You have got to love having a Dump trailer....

I had been wanting to get a dump trailer for our company for a long while, but we didn't want to spend the money that they cost .... that is to buy one.... new.
Finally came across a 6x10 used one for $3000.00 (2003 Down Easter).
Sides, and rear tail gate all can fold down, 5000lb load rate.

Because the rear tail gate can fold down, we can load load 12' + lengths of materials. We have a 14' box truck, but it's nice having a 2nd means of picking up and delivering materials.

FWIW-Because these things love rust. I had the workers sand down the trailer and applied a marine grade rust sealer. Previous owner had installed double 1/2" PT plywood onto the sides. I stained them black to match the trailer. Threw some of our lawn signs on (for now)....down the road, I will have black aluminum signs made up with silver lettering.

BTW-This trailer resulted in me having to get a new truck for work at the time we bought it. (Better to buy a HD truck completely equiped to tow, than to add a towing set up to an old 15000....that would probably kill it)

At the time, we only had 1500 trucks, nothing HD to tow it properly. (we did have one OLD Ford F450 and one OLD Chevy 2500 that were dying).... So after purchasing the trailer, it sat for 2+ months while i looked for a deal on a HD truck.
Finally found a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 (in the pic. below) with only 35K mi. on it. Paid $10K for it one year ago.....

All I can say is that...once you get a dump trailer, you will say: "Why didn't I get one of these a long time ago?"
