Forget The Ford F-350
I was going to buy a Ford F-350 w/ a V10, but these new Dodges are real sharp. I'd like a 4x4, crew cab, long bed, dual rear wheel. Only drawback to the Dodge is that it's not available with a gas engine in 3500 series, diesel only. That probably means this is a $50,000 truck.

Re: Forget The Ford F-350
Wait, I found my dream truck for sale in Oregon! I'm going to call this dealership first thing in the AM and work out a price, hopefully I'll have a nice new ride by this weekend.
2007 International RXT with GPS Nav, Leather, power everything, loaded to the max. I'll be one happy Bob if I can get a deal on this truck! ![]() ![]()

Re: Forget The Ford F-350
Well darn, no wonder Chevrolet went bankrupt. My 2008 Sieraa 2500 diesel with a better payload than the ford 350 srw though was 53K. 50 for that sounds like a deal!

The one thing that Dodge has going for it over the other trucks is the new rear suspension. Slightly less payload, but it has the best ride for a truck in the world. Steve |

This truck should be around $40,000, if I can get it for close to that price I'll definetely fly to Portland this weekend and drive it home. I love the RXT, too bad International only made them for 2 years. Great trucks. That flatbed is going to go though. I like to be able to chunk stuff in the back and go. I'll be replacing it with one of these from Knapheide. The sides fold down and it dumps. It'll be one sweet landscaping rig. Tow capacity for the RXT is over 22,000lbs and the GVW should be around 24,000lbs. |

Re: Forget The Ford F-350
Do you mean the green print? If you are talking about the rear suspension comment, Google it. Dodge went to a coil spring setup over the traditional leaf spring. I think that they only lost 500 lbs on the payload & gained a phenomenal ride for a truck.

Re: Forget The Ford F-350
Ya, those new Fiat 3500 DRW's are sharp trucks. Why would you want a gas motor in a DRW work truck? The new Fiats drop in value enough even with a diesel motor but with a gas motor in a big truck?
I'd pass on the Fiat and opt for a the Ford F450 King Rach widetrack. Would have to pick the only US auto manufacturer to not opt for a bail out, hand out, bancruptcy, or buy out. If you want to go big just go with a F650 or F750 with the 7.2 Cat motor and forget about that little Fiat. Before they were Fiat had a lot of Dodge vehicles and can only say one was dependable. |

Re: Forget The Ford F-350
I heard that also about Dodge. A lot of people like them, but i have heard horror stories. I even thought the Cummins was a good engine, but heard stories about that also.

Here's the payload for the 08 2500, http://www.carseek.com/reviews/gmc/2...ra-2500hd-2wd/ 4x2=3,892 lbs 4x4=3,646 lbs Here's the payload for the 08 Super Duty's http://www.fordf150.net/2008/2008-fo...ifications.php Depending on configuration the payload which is all higher than the 08 2500's would range from 4,130-4,350 lbs. The 08 GMC 2500 3/4 ton would have a higher payload than a 08 Ford F250 but not a F350, sorry. More than likely your GMC dealership gave you bad information on the Ford, happens all the time. |

Re: Forget The Ford F-350Quote:
The Cummings is a good motor but you will also find problems with it. Just like the early 6.0 Powerstrokes and early 6.6 Duramax's. As a matter of fact you will also find problems with some 7.3 Powerstrokes. With millions of vehicles on the road there will be problems. The fact is if you buy a work truck no matter what brand and really work it things will break. What I find most disturbing is all the people I know with the newer 08+ diesel trucks with the DPF system get worse fuel mileage than 07 and older diesel trucks without the system. Some owners have gone as far as to take off the DPF system and get really good mileage. Of course the new diesel motors have more hp and tq than ever but is it really worth the drop in mileage? With the huge ticket price of new diesel trucks they should all get a minumal of 20 mpg (imo). I think the worse is the F450 6.4 with the 4.88 gears. Those are sharp trucks but getting less than 10 mpg would be horrible in a $60K truck. Towing big you would be lucky to get 8mpg!!! |

Re: Forget The Ford F-350
maybe because the new z71 suspensions on the hds and also the diesel engine with allison. Those upgrades trumped the 350 powerstroke with fx4 suspension. numbers straight from gmc book and from ford book.
