Finally used my POS dump truck today

Bought this thing with intentions of just using it as a "dumpster" for small/frequent job debris catcher for less trips to landfill and ease of unloading. Been finding lil problems and fixing here and there, yada yada. Well today was a crummy rainey/snowy cold blah day so decided to empty both trucks. Normal pick up was a hand unload job getting wet and took about 5 minutes, went home got the dump that was heaping full, tried to start it and woul'nt catch so I grabbed my trusty can of ether and lifted the lid to the breather and gave it a fdw squirts, cranked it and still nothing.

Figured a few small squirts did nothing; a big squirt will do the trick LOL....well after it cranked and did'nt cath again I noticed flames...typical from this POS chebbie with the backfiring and all so I gave it no mind and kept cranking try'n to suck da flames in. Normally this is'nt a big deal, happens on new race motors all the time till timing is set. Well, this flame was'nt going out . I took the time to try and bat it out-nothing. Figured, okay I'll let the beeotch burn, so I actually took the time to back up one truck to get it away from the hopefully soon to be inferno and then it struck me...I only gots liability on this POS and all new hydralulic stuff!!

So ran into the house, grabbed the extinguisher, ran back out and gave it a blast. Luckily it had not reached "engulfed yet". Funniest part?; it was just enough fire to warm up the engine i guess, figured now that I was in destruction mode I'd suck as much extinguisher powder into the motor as I could hoping to gum everyting up internally so I jumped back in and started cranking....within the first revolution it took right off!!! focking POS!! I hate this chevie and it reminds me of why I switched over to Fords yrs ago with this constant headache in my driveway LMAO!!

soo, after that lil bit of drama went back to landfill with this junker...I got a woodie with the 20 second turn around to off load just under 1800lbs from untarping to pulling away so as soon as I find a donor Ford 1T with a stick I'll switch over the hydraulics and have a real truck Or maybe the toyota guys can convince me to get a tundra to install this dump bed unit on

Now that a dump has proven it's worth time to unload this POS and get a nice one oh wait, I just stuck half as much as I bought the truck for into the hydraulics to make that aspect of it new....I'm screwed focking chevies...and I swore I'd never own another chebbie truck again LOL!! Once I get a real truck with a dump I will be sure to make an entertaining video of killing this thing for good.

Yeah but did you really save any time at all?? By the time you add trying to start and trying some more and trying even more and still trying.... Then you had to put the fire out.... Then you had to drive 10 MPH because it is a POS... so did you really save time??

Difference: flames on van are flowing towards the back due to it being a FORD and always on the move trying to make and save me money, the Chebbie flames were shooting skyward from sitting still and not moving/making me money

Had a 1 ton dump many years ago. GMC, go figure. The dam thing stalled one day just off the University street, the main drag up in Peoria. It was 5 oclock with traffic out the yang. I pushed it into a parking lot and primed the carb just about the same time the buttmunch working for me decided to give her another crank. After furiously beating my arms against the truck to put the flames out, I looked up to see at least 30 cars stoped at the light, nothing but eyes in the glass.

Jeeze

LMFAO!!! oh man that was just what i needed to read LOL!!

Brought back memories: few years ago we were burning ALOT of midnight oil getting the cars revamped and ready for racing. I tore my posi unit apart to check the clutches and give it a good cleaning, well a lil beer in the system, severly lacking real sleep and I had this brainiac idea I could dry off the freshly cleaned posi unit quicker so I could reinstall it faster if I put some heat to it. Had a few of us over there and the typical circle of guys standing around me while I worked on the floor and sparked up the liquid wrench (torch)...nobody said anything to let me know how idiotic this was, soon as the torch got close the posi went up like the 4th of july BIG circle trail of fire spread across the garage floor originating from the posi, we all jumped back and I saw my buddy doin the chicken dance wootin and holler'n....caught both his shoes of fire LMAO!!! So apparently when your shoes are on fire, the chicken dnace is the only way to put it out

Luckily nobody was hurt, took about that long before we realized maybe wwe should take a night off and catch up on zzz's before anybody got seriously hurt.

Same thing happened friends dad. I built him a fuel cell for his 26 model A and I wanted to pressure check it for leaks, he just wanted to hurry up and put it in the car against all our pleading. Welp, it did have a small pin hole leak in it. So next day I go over and buddy tells me his dad had to goto the hospital. Apparently he dumped out the gas, blew air into the tank "cleaning out the fumes" then took it back over to the shop and was going to burn that pin hole shut with the welder. Goofy focker had his arm in front of the filler neck when he arched it and schwooosh-fireball directly concentrated on his forearm got some nice 1st & 2nd degree burns out of the deal and was lucky it did'nt blow up.

nothings fun unless fire or explosions are involved

M.P. : I'm seriously considering just getting a 7x14 dump trailer right now, it could serve many functions other than just a garbage disposal and cost less to keep around too

You took the words out of my mouth. My H&H dump trailer is awesome. I use it for drywall scrap most of the time. But when the need arises I can load up the Bobcat and clean snow off driveways etc. Just a great trailer.

BTW even if you hate "chebbies" I gotta say...that is one funny story
