Dump Body Help!

Posted for 71 LONG BED: Didnt have enough posts to link images
Quote:
Anyway, I was looking for info on the dump body of my truck. I don't know if this forum will serve my needs, but here it goes. I attached the actual pictures directly to you just in case the links are still not useable. Thanks again, John.

I have a 1967 Ford F350 mason dump and know nothing about the industrial body on it. I've been told it is a better than average design and probably was a top of the line unit. I, too, haven't seen another like it. Most have the cylinder connected directly to the body. Mine has some sort of fulcrum set up. Does anyone have any info at all on this type of set up?

I would imagine it takes less force to lift the bed with that sort of setup probably puts less strain on the cylinder

If you need help dumping a body, I've got a few places that I've tucked in the back of my mind if the occasion should ever arise.

I've got that same dump bed on a 73 international (35,000 actual miles). Dump bed works fine but, it's a one ton truck and bed. It will dump maybe 2 ton but much beyond and it won't lift it to dump.

The truck (and bed) I have is available for $3,000. I bought it 25 years ago for trashing out small jobs. Ended up using dumpsters almost all the time.

Cole, I was at a charity event over the week end that one of my pieces of equipment was on dispaly at and there was a guy with an old jeep / kaiser 5 ton army truck from korean war vintage. It had a dump body with a very similar mechanism for dumping as your truck has.

Knowing what I know of bodies and hoists and plus the truck owners knowledge of that truck, we summized it was a Garwood hoist and body.

Bad news though, Garwood is out of buisness. But boy did they know how to build a body. We had one on and older Mack dump and you couldnt beat it to death if you tried.

Ford Dump Truck

Are you sure that is a '67 Ford. Looks to me like about '72. I used to have a '72 F series pick up and that looks just about like it.

Year of the truck is correct by the grille, 67-69 grilles were steel and the 70-72 were aluminum one peice with plastic inserts. The bodies were the same and changed in late 72 "sold as 1973's". The dump bed is in great condition and looks as though it will survive for some time yet. Hell the truck itself is in great shape, you dont see trucks around here like that anymore. They have all gone to the crusher after dieing of salt cancer.
