Best Year Chevy Truck?

Like many others I have had many many trucks over the years. Some for work, some for daily drivers, and some for weekend cruisers. I currently only have newer trucks and I am in the market for a new project.

I want to basically get a good old chevy truck and cusomize it. I find myself needing a little project to keep me busy.

I cant deside what year I want. Thinking maybe 79-87 or should I go into the early nineties? I love the old trucks and this one will just be a summer cruiser.

I will be getting a 2wd, large v8, automatic

Any suggetions?

71-72. The gas tank was right behind the seat. LOL

I had a 1980 short bed, lowered with a 350, great to drive around town worthless for any kind of work.
On top of everything else it was black. uhg
My favorite chevy truck was my '67 283c.u. 3 on the tree, that truck got about 20mpg!

Not much better looking than a 71-72. 4wd look sweet jacked, 2wd look sweet slammed to the ground. I loved my 71. Bad rust problems and behind the seat gas tank. Wish I had the time for, I didn't and couldn't stand to see it rust way, so I sold it to someone that did.

Re: Best Year Chevy Truck?

I see alot of 95's with 300,000 on those 5.7's. Still going strong. Maybe it's a Florida thing.

I would love to restore my 95 Suburban/178,000. I've had it for 15 yrs and now it is the weekender for me to tow the toys. Just had complete a/c overhaul. Next is all new suspesion and then complete paint job.

Just saw a showroom new 95 4x4 pickup yesterday. I offerd to buy it from the previous owner a couple yrs ago.

Good luck

Re: Best Year Chevy Truck?

My vote would be the 73-87, i like the square look, i have owned many of them over the years. They are easy to work on/ reliable, and easy/cheap to get parts for.

I think that body style is one of the best looking inside and out.

I have 170k on my 99 2500 suburban with the 454, god I love that thing.

She treats me well. Tinted windows, good tunes, plush leather, tons of space inside and it has a 454.

I drove my brothers standard cab Ford f150 300 miles the other day, god that was horrible. I had the standard cab cramps all day.
