Backhoe Removal

Is it a difficult process to remove the back digger apparatus on a backhoe so as to have more maneuverability in this snow removal season? I know weights have to be added to "balance" the backhoe but is it common for owner/operators to remove the back part?

Re: Backhoe Removal

I know a lot of people in the snow business who use heavy equipment for removal but have never seen anyone do that.

Re: Backhoe Removal

It depends on the manufacture of the backhoe/loader some of them are one piece frame and the backhoe cannot be removed.

Enclosed cabs take longer, i doubt i could get the backhoe off my case 580se in less than 5 hours. Then you have to work out the counter weight issue....

Re: Backhoe Removal

Wow, I personally beleive that it would not be cost effective to do that. Around here, you do not see that hoe part of the tractor off unless it was being repaired. The backhoes are sure cumbersome machines but are versitile. Some times in residential applications where it is tight, I will swing the hoe to one side or the other to access an area. Good luck on the adventure.

Re: Backhoe Removal

Another vote against removal of the hoe: with it on there, it's virtually impossible to get stuck in a way you can't get yourself out. Maybe not an issue on a flat parking lot, but...
