2008 Ford Super Duty

I saw one of these on the road yesterday. What do you think, do you like the new style or not? There are more pics on Ford's website.

I'm Thinkin' that I like it!

Exterior hasn't changed all that much, (kind of funny head light/turn signal configuration) but the interior looks pretty sweet.

Too bad I'd probably have to take out a new mortgage to buy one!

Re: 2008 Ford Super Duty

Love it...With the exception of the hood and side steps. I'd have to have some 4"-6" oval nerf bars, Cobra style hood and maybe some mudders.

Re: 2008 Ford Super Duty

I'm sure that Ford is trying to address the height of the headlights and the tendency to blind oncoming traffic by swapping the headlight to the low spot.
Just a matter of time before someone in the aftermarket offers a clear parking/turnsignal setup that would really look much better on there.

I like the inside alot. Fords have always designed a really boring interior, this one is much better.

I'm not so sure about that- when the 2004 F150 came out, they won a lot of awards for their interior

I usually like very simple interiors, and I think that one looks really nice. I could do with a bench seat however.

I have heard bad things about the new low compression diesels- anyone know any thing about the gas milage and power of the 6.4 powerstroke and the 6.7 cummins?

Re: 2008 Ford Super Duty

I test drove one about 2 weeks ago. I don't know about the mileage but it has plenty of power. I know the salesman well, he had me put it to the floor from a dead stop. It was a single rear wheel, I believe you could burn the tires off if you wanted. It doesn't have the bad turbo lag the previous models did. When you push on the pedal it responds instantly.

Re: 2008 Ford Super Duty

We will see how long ford keeps on pumping them out with navistar halting all production of the new 6.4 engine.

Re: 2008 Ford Super Duty

I'd like to see them widen the cab/bed to the full with of the wheel wells on the duallys. That would add another 16" interior width with the same overall width truck.

that would require them to create a different bed, rather than adding dually flares onto a standard bed, and would probably increase the cost a bit due to more complex production. maybe they could offer a flatbed option?

Have an 05 super duty. Beautiful truck drives like a car. I love everything but the pedal response from start. Are you saying the new one jumps from the start? Gas or Diesal?

Re: 2008 Ford Super Duty

Diesel, I wouldn't say jumps at the start. I'm use to the 6.0L. Compared to it the 6.4 has much better response from the start. I don't know about comparing it to a gas, I haven't drove a gas truck in a decade or more.

I take it your saying there is still a lag from the start. I doubt a turbo diesel will ever respond like a gas.

Interior contrast stitching looks ugly. The interior reminds me of the big Nissan.
January and they are already testing the waters with the '08. Ford must really be in trouble.

Re: 2008 Ford Super Duty

car companys usually have the prototypes built two years in advance for testing and such- just look in the spy reports of any auto mag and you can probably find pictures of 09 model cars. it's about this time of year that you start seeing publicity photos, so I'm not supprised

Re: 2008 Ford Super Duty

Most members on thedieselstop say the truck looks good except the headlights.

Expect to see the same front end treatment as to what you see on the 08 Super Duty's on the 08 E series vans.

Too much money, but the F450 crew cab King Ranch which is pictured is sweat, around $60K, close to $70K Canadian!!!

The 6.4 is twin turbo and much much quetier than any Ford diesel we've heard. Slightly changed 6.0 with all the new emission equipment.

Re: 2008 Ford Super Duty

Nice truck, but with the amount of driving I do and being in California I'd go broke paying for the gas.

Re: 2008 Ford Super Duty

There were a few years I racked around 50K miles per year on the F250 diesel, then diesel fuel was $1.45-1.65 a gallon.
