Whats The Best Undercutter
I currently use Fein Multimaster for undercutting as it cuts into corners and directly on the floor for where jambs go below floor level I would highly reccommend this tool for anyone in the wood or laminate fitting business, however what else is out there and does anyone know of a company that can recut teeth on blades of a multimaster as if you hit a nail it destroys the blade
P.S. If you decide to run with this idea I would appreciate a free sample LOL. Last edited by GaryS; 12-03-2008 at 02:02 PM. Reason: Addition |

Re: Whats The Best Undercutter
I don't know about anyone recutting teeth, but there are cheaper alternatives to the Fien blades. http://multiblades.com/ I have never used them, but it is probably worth a try.

I know the guy who makes www.multiblades.com and I use the blades.
Better than Fein and a 1/4 of the price.

Re: Whats The Best Undercutter
I would be interested in looking into Bosch's little multimaster thingy they have coming out.
Most people are here dont really like the Fien because it used to be really hard to get new blades and such. |

Re: Whats The Best Undercutter
I own the Fein MM and the Bosch Fine Cut with an undercut blade.
Honestly, for undercutting, I usually grab the Bosch saw because it does the job well and the blades are priced reasonably. But the Fein MM is great for corners and plunging. http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-1640VS-F...8348663&sr=8-1 I used to have this Crain jamb saw but it was stolen. If you do alot of flooring then I would recommend the Crain. http://www.amazon.com/Crain-820C-Amp...8348751&sr=1-3 Last edited by jeffaah; 12-03-2008 at 07:06 PM. |

HE-LLO?!?!?
It's not 2002 anymore. Fein blades are no longer $45 each because you don't have to buy Fein blades anymore!!!! What I'm telling you is that you can buy a Fein MM and then never touch a Fein product again if you buy your blades from multiblades.com. Al makes the blades better than Fein, he has a great variety, and they are cheap. Cheap I tell you! ![]() A Crain is a one trick pony. A MM is like a secret Jedi tool that makes some absolutely weird cuts.

Re: Whats The Best Undercutter
I agree the MM is a GREAT tool. But the OP says he is a floor installer. He would be undercutting several jambs, etc on every job. He would get alot of use out of the "one trick pony"....he would use that trick everyday.
Personally, I would not buy the crain because I don't do enough floor to warrant the cost. |
