What Type Of Airhose Do You Use?

What type of hoses are you using and what type of work do you use them for? I have been looking for some new hoses for framing and just looking around for some good hoses. I have used flexeel and am not really sure if I like them or not.

I have one flexeel and 1 similar to a flexeel... its just a little bit thicker not enough to really notice the weight differance but it makes it a lot sturdier. The non flexeel was sold branded by a local lumberyard that closed down and I have no idea what actual brand it was, wish I knew because I would like to get another.

Flexeel...Anything else is like using steel cable.

I actually use a 1/4" flexeel for everything from framing to finish. Light is fast!

Not sure what the brand name is - green urethane from Northern Tool. The 65' x 1/4" is around $20.

I had some real heavy goodyear rubber hoses for a while I was on a job and stepped on the thing when it was on top of some tackstrip. I was in a bind went to home depot picked up a ridgid rubber 1/4" hose and it is great real light and very flexible, but I havent tried the flexells yet though.

When people talk about air hoses, my mind always flashes back to a couple of "Welcome Back Kotter" episodes. In one, Kotter relates how he was visiting his uncle in the hospital, and the uncle was muttering something he couldn't understand, so he drew closer. When the uncle repeated, he was saying, "Air hose... air hose! You're stepping on my air hose!". And who can forget Vinnie Barbarino's oft repeated statement "Up your nose with a rubber hose." Classic.

Flexeel and the many knockoffs- both 1/4 and 3/8. everyone uses them around here. on jobs that I've been on, I have only seen two people with the big heavy hoses, and one of those people had mostly 1/4 flexeels, and one big heavy duty 3/8 for a supply line.

Is flexeel that blue tinted stuff , lol.

I have been useing that plastic hose , comes in lots of colors, stuff I have is blue. But I am going to change to that softer blueish stuff.

I'm gonna look up flexeel and see if thatsthe stuff, lol

This is the stuff that I just used on a frame that I like

If you take your flexeel and step on the end of it with your foot and pull on it about three foot from the end untill it stops popping, all those little cords inside it will break making much more flexible. Contiue the whole way down the hose. It will not have as much memory and it will lay flat on the ground too. I have done it to all of mine and they are still plenty strong.

We had an orange pvc hose that turned pink over time, one of the guys working with us was saying that he was having nightmares about fighting a pink snake. I stay as far away from pvc hoses as I can.

Flexeel. All other hoses haven't seen the light of day since I started using Flexeel.

Currently have Bostitch Pro-Hoze (yellow). Flexsteel like.
Will get a rubber hose as sturdier option to run from roof eave down to ground level (to take abuse of debris being dropped on it, being run over by tires, being stepped on, etc...) and where weight matters, from the eave up, all Polyurethane hoses.

Re: What Type Of Airhose Do You Use?

Have a couple of those little "senco" brand gray pvc ones that are several years old, the are small and light compared to the cheaper hoses. Just recently bought a 100' flexsteel, but haven't had it long enough to know it's lifespan. It sure is light, and they must be pretty decent because our framers have a few of them and don't complain about them.

Re: What Type Of Airhose Do You Use?

personly, the Flexeel brand doesn't hold any advantage over the other similar hoses, like bostich. As long as it's that lighter weight hose, it will work fine. I've seen a couple lightweight 1/4 and 3/8 rubber hoses recently as well that work as well as the flexeel type hoses.

the only other hoses I'd consider buying would be a heavy 1/2 inch rubber hose as a supply line to a threeway in the house, where you would split off with lighter flexeel type or rubber hoses

Same set up I like to run...
a heavy duty hose for high traffic areas,
lighter hoses for work areas.
