What Lasts Longer? The Boots Or The Laces?

I find that after about 9-10 months of use, one or both of my boot laces 'snap' and I have to replace them. But then about 3 months after I have replaced the laces, the whole boot needs to be replaced, and the cycle starts over.

Do you laces usually last to the end?

I'm wondering if there is some sort of symbiotic relationship between the two. One cannot live without the other or something

I'm at the point of where I need to buy new boots again, but this time buy some of those nifty kevlar laces and see how long the boots last, or if they wear out in 3 months.

Why do they sell hotdogs in package of 6, but buns in packages of 8?

Seriously though, try these laces:

the laces always wear out after a few months. Then I cut off a chunk of 550 cord and burn the ends with a cigarette lighter. I've never had 550 cord shoelaces wear out, and they only cost about 50 cents.

You get Red Wings re-soled for about 1/3 of the price new...and they come back to you with new laces

All it takes for me is a few times welding up a little bit of something and the laces are shot. Other than that, boots and laces usually bite the dust about the same time.

I'm on my third pair of laces and the boots are fine (3rd year with the current pair). Granted, I wear steel-toed running shoes most of the summer instead my boots so they don't get as much wear and tear. The shoes don't seem to last more than a season though...

I can't get either to last more than 6 months. How did someone get them to last 3+ years.

Rotation....just like tires....although it's a bit difficult to get the right boot on the left foot
