What Brand Rotary Laser Level
I am looking to purchase a reliable rotary laser level. Wondering what brands most people have had the greatest success with. Mostly for use indoors but would like the option to use it on exterior work as well.

Re: What Brand Rotary Laser Level
What do you want it for? Inside/outside etc
I still have a Spectra LL500 & a PLS180. Read here: http://www.contractortalk.com/f40/ro...-level-103685/ http://www.contractortalk.com/f40/be...r-level-78125/ http://contractortalk.devel.escalate...ad.php?t=89719 http://contractortalk.devel.escalate...ad.php?t=66725 |

Re: What Brand Rotary Laser Level
Thanks for the links. I did a search but it only resulted in an inexperienced guy asking how to use a rotary level fro foundations....wonder why these didn't come up.
Would primarily be used indoors for trim and cabinetry. Would like the option to use it outdoors for some site works and foundations. Vertical and horizontal beam would be preferred. Last edited by mewoods; 02-27-2012 at 06:10 PM. |

Re: What Brand Rotary Laser Level
PLS 180 look like it may do the trick for most of my needs. MIght give that one a try. Has it been reliable for you?
But only +/- 1/8" accuracy in 30'? Maybe not the one for me..hum??? Last edited by mewoods; 02-27-2012 at 06:28 PM. |

Re: What Brand Rotary Laser Level
PLS makes some excellent lasers, and a lot of people on here are very satisfied with them. I have a Hilti line laser and a Bosch rotary. The Hilti seems especially durable. For what you do I would stick with a line laser like the PLS 180. Rotary lasers are more for exterior work or dropped ceilings, etc. Not that you can't use a rotary, but for trim and cabinets a line laser is more convenient, and I find the line less bothersome on the eyes.

Re: What Brand Rotary Laser Level
Picked up the PLS 180 with laser detector. So far so good. Going to prove VERY useful! Thanks! Also bought a Lieca Disto D8. What a great tool.

Re: What Brand Rotary Laser Level
Greg Di did a good piece recently for ToTT, as has been linked.
Here are a couple other pieces I've done on the subject over the past few years...http://www.toolsofthetrade.net/indus...icleID=1544921 http://www.deckmagazine.com/abstract/177.html
